Moderators, I don't know if this belongs here or not...if so would you move it to where it belongs, please?

OK as most of you know I have recently gotten a 125 and am totally in love with it

Of course setting it up has required the use of water purifiers, and I always like to have MelaFix on hand just incase, then there is the fact of the water conditioner to get the tank ready (bacteria starter)

Well, after looking and cussing at the thought of and having bought some stuff and cussing about the thoughts of how much i'll end up eventually needing (well, the tank and stand were cheap at least) I happened to stumble across Rose and Tryst in the chat room and mentioned this huge bottle of Melafix at the lfs last week and mentioned it...well, I got giggled at and come to find out there is a secret organizations that or I'm totally stupid:%)instead of buying huge quantities of the stuff, and counting ounces till you loose your mind, 12.5 tsp= 4 tbsp and a dab more...well heck never can find anything larger than a 1/2 tsp or 1/4 tsp...so let the counting begin (I think all the tbsp got lost while moving the tanks about 2 times in 1 year:%)probably in storage with everything else I can't find

Anyways sorry about the ramble...I have learned/discovered that if you want larger versions of stuff for the fish tank, for a cheaper price check out the pond section of your lfs, or lawncare area!!! Yep, it's that simple, pond section...why didn't I think of that?

Now, I think someone mentioned that yes, they knew that, but that they were hoping for PimaFix for Ponds? I found it at my local PetSmart, so check there, or maybe request it online.

Just thought I'd mention this...am beginning to feel really embarrassed, I'm not usually this dense and stupid (not that anyone else is if you never thought of it either) I guess I've had too much on my mind lately So folks that is my tad bit of information to share for the day, good luck, and go take care of your fish! A very good tip Heidi, because why would you think to look there if you have no experience with ponds.

Don't worry Heidi, you didn't sound stupid. Racso and I just ran into a similar situation. We were in the garden dept of a store here and found huge bottles of water conditioner for ponds. Same stuff that's in the little bottles for aquariums, but a much better bargain

Yep makes sense....I stumbled onto pond sized bottles @a local garden center before I even found it in the LFS. $12 for the melafix, sniffs were for free .
My water conditioner treats drop per gallon, if I had a larger tank I'd figure out what it was per 10 or 20 gallons :%).
