Hmm... so, everything you could fit in a shopping bag (grocery type paper bag) was 20% off at the LFS... so, of course, I had to go.

I bought another cory labelled as "agassizi" which I believe is a ambiacus... looks like the other cories I've gotten previously by that name. "Daddy" has been looking sad since Izzy randomly died (no signs, no warning, just dead ), so I got him a new buddyl... meet Ambler. If you look under the arch of driftwood, you can see Daddy peeking out. He IS an ambiacus, right?

The LFS has a "fish club card" basically a one dollar/year membership gets you a free fish every month. This month was either male guppy or red eye tetra... another guppy boy joins the group, posing with my three juvie males. Can't believe they all posed so nicely. The new guppy is still in the bag.

Okay... the "no cat" sign was in the tank pre-cory cats. Now it's just amusing. Sorry... the tank doesn't photograph very well... you can see reflections of the stuff around the tank. These guys JUST got added to the tank, excuse the unhappy expressions on their faces. They don't like being netted. Kitten's got rabauti! (Think it was a sweet deal at $3.99 plus 20% off.

See? He's waving hello to you!

Altogether, I spent just over 20 bucks for uh... six cory cats (five rabauti and one ambiacus) and a freebie guppy. Not a bad deal.

Also of note... they had a pretty lil salvini cichlid in a tank by herself... well, not by herself... she had fry! Like, TINY fry! And they say she's been in the tank for a while by herself. Storing eggs, eh?

In any case, I would SO have brought her (and her fry!) home, if I had ANY sort of room. She was cool... rushing the glass and trying to flare like a betta boy when I got too close. Was cool.

Oh... pondering going back tomorrow to get more ambiacus... can't figure out why I only got one. *kicks self* The rabauti went into another tank, so I could have gotten more ambiacus, especially at 20% off of uh... $5.99 I think? Sigh... another trip.

I'd say that the first cory is Corydoras ambiacus, they're the most common agassizii "impersonator", and are probably more common in stores than actual agassizii. The second species does look like C. rabauti instead of C. zygatus. They are very similar though, so better pictures would be needed for clarification. $3.99 per is a steal, nice find.

I'll have to take a picture tonight with all the room lights turned off for you... ANY light on the tank produces glare... it's so stupid.

That's a great deal I wish the LFS around here had one of those fish of the month clubs! I have heard a few people talk abotu them but I have yet to hear abotu one anywhere around here. I love the cories. I haven't been abotu to find any of the skunk cories around here either. I wish I could find soem better fish stores close to me. Oh well.... Maybe next time...

I'd say C. rabauti, they seem to have a slight difference with their stripe as compared to C. zygatus.

Well, no wonder Houston was so anxious to go to a lfs, Kitten. She couldn't stand not going when everyone else was or has visited a lfs today. Except this time, she spent a much smaller amount than I did. I got some more fish food, and two pairs of German Blue Rams. Wanted a little more variety in my 75g tank.

Thats the one that I found as a "spotted" that looked just like that one so I guess i know what it is now They are soooo cute! Anyways I need to find more for him so he isnt so lonly I wish cory's could handle brackish water, I am thinking of doing a brackish or salt tank for my sons room, but then again, I could do a tank that was cory's and some of the more timid cichlids and mabee killifish. I never know what I am going to do, I do think that the living room needs a tank next to the tv and still keep the one in the dinning room (its one big room so...)

But great job at the store you did very well!

So many choices so little glass...

That's an awesome find Kitten. If you ever get a fish you don't necessarily have the room for, I will babysit for you in my tank

also - Leslie - - very nice!
