I have the following fish:

- 1 betta in a large jar
- 1 female swordtail in a temporary 2.5 gallon tank
- 1 goldfish in a 10 gallon tank
- numerous guppies in a 25 gallon tank

I am leaving for four full days to New York and I would like to know if that is not too long for my fishies to be without food... I am especially worried for my betta and swordtail, as they are in much smaller tanks....

What do you think?

Thanks in advance for any help

Fish can easily survive for 4 days without food. Just do some water changes before you leave.

Yep, they will be fine for four days. Just feed them before and make sure that you leave any tank lights off, because the fish will be more calm (and therefore use less energy) in darker environments.

for the other fishes, the lfs have feeding blocks which are good, for the betta, give him food b4 you go,but do not give him weekend feeders. he should be good for four days.

Feeding blocks are 95% plaster and do little more than pollute the water. I would never recommend using them.

4 days is Ok. Just do a water change & feed them before you leave & then feed them again as soon as you'll arrive.

Ok. Thank you very much everyone I will do some water changes for them and be sure to feed them right before I leave. They are quite hardy aren't they? LOL if it was me I'd be in a coma xD

Thanks again!
