MOST LIKELY, they are ADFs, or African Dwarf Frogs. Here is a wonderful website that will tell you ALMOST everything you need to know about these buggers. http://allaboutfrogs.org/info/mypets/dwarfs.html Although, I am almost positive that the little frogs are ADFs, there is a chance they could be ACFs (African Clawed Frogs). There is a BIG difference between an ADF and an ACF except for the middle letter. African Dwarf Frogs are small, friendly, and social little frogs that can be kept in a small fishtank with most kinds of tiny fish. African Clawed Frogs can grow very big and won't think twice about eating every fish in your tank. Knowing which species of frog yours are is the imperative first step before finding out what you can put with it. Although ADFs and ACFs look almost identical, and are often sold together, they ARE NOT compatible and will not tolerate the same kinds of tankmates. This is all well and good, but how do you know which frog is your frog? Well, next time you head down to your petstore, I want you too look at two different things that will tell you if you frog is really going to be a "little frog" for long: 1. Albino - If the frog in question is albino, then it is almsot definitely a ACF. Although there may be albino varaties of ADFs (they are always developing new strains of animals), 9.99 times out of 10, your frog is not one of them. 2. Front hands - This method is very tricky, but it is near foolproof. Look at the hands of the frog. (this may be hard if you have bad eyesight) If they are webbed, your frog is an ADF. If they are not, ACF. Well, I think I covered everything I can right now. That website if good for the basics, but it does have some flaws (obviously, this person is not good at keeping goldfish). Keep me updated once you find out what your frog is. If it is an ADF, I can tell you EVERYTHING you need to know. I've kept them for years. If it is an ACF, I can help you with the basics, but you might need more help, as I am not skilled with them. Best of luck and welcome to the site - DJ :88) |

Mia, you are going to have to be specific on what type of frog you are talking about, as it really differs from one frog to another. ~Jorge |
