The tank: 10gal tank with 4 neon tetras, 2 ghost shrimp and 2 ADFs

I have had my ADFs for 7 weeks now, and due to the "cycling" I hadn't changed the water until 4 days ago. I saw "rust" colored spots that I assume are from the frogs, as this hasn't happened to my tank before and the frogs were the only things added (I have had the tank for a year now). I took out the log thingy in the tank and scrubbed the edges of the tank and the log (no soap, just the cloth I always use). I then took out about 20% of the water and replaced with fresh, treated, same degree water (I am very careful about this).

This is what happened only 4 hours later: Two of my tetras were upside down and one shrimp was dead. I immediately put some aquarium salt in the tank (not much) to help with the stress level of the tank. By the end of the evening the other shrimp and the other 2 tetras were dead. The next morning the smaller of the two ADFs was floating on the surface. When I went to scoop him out, he started jumping around. I left him alone and increased the water temp by 2 degrees and added an air pump blue thingy to get more oxygen to the frogs and hoped that this would help. Anyway, by the end of the second day after cleaning, the smaller frog was dead. Now I am left with one ADF and a lot more of the rust color looking stuff. It is all over the edges of the tank and up on the glass. I think this is from the waste? I am not sure.

Anyway, does anyone have any idea what this rust colored stuff is and why all my fish died?

I have similar rust thing b4 in one of my tank , but this case happen to me is becoz the tank is expose to bright daylight in one of my room, tis should be brown algae. Even in bright daylight the algae wouldn't bloom unless u never maintain good quality water in tank for weeks n i dun tink the algae would give such a serious effect on the fishes causing dead in just 1 or 2 days.

So, NvForGet, you don't know what it is? I'm sorry, I am having a hard time understanding what you are saying exactly. My tank is not near direct sunlight (we don't even have much sun right now) and I do keep prety good water conditions.

Can you describe the brown stuff in detail?? Exactly where is it? Is it growing? What does it look like, fuzzy, smooth, etc?

Did you use water dechlorinater w/ chloramine remover?

The brown stuff is not fuzzy, more of just a slime spot on the surface of the rock, log, heater, and glass (has a smooth texture). Basically everything in the tank has some of this slimey brown stuff on it. This stuff is mostly concentrated around the edges of the tank/rock on the bottom with some being on the side of the glass. It is not growing that I can tell, there is no smell to it either. The tank is at 78F and yes I have done the dechlor and cloramine. I have Clour-Out that I use for this.

It honestly looks like everywhere the frog has been (where he goes up for air too) and may have peed or pooped this brown stuff is there. I don't know if it is caused by the waste of the frog or not. This is really gross though.

Add a small powerhead, like the aquaclear 104 to get circulation. It sounds like buildup or lack of circulation. The power head would help, as well as a water change.
