Baby guppies were on the way and I figured I'd make my own fry food since my "first bites" powdered food went and disappeared on me.

I gathered up a wide variety of food... I also added spirulina flakes. The film canister on the far right cleverly labelled "food" contains Hikari Betta Biogold.

Colorful mixture, neh?

You can do this in a ziploc baggie and crush the food by hand, but I have this handy dandy mortar and pestle that easily crushes and powders the food in a few quick moments.

Toss mixture into a film canister for easy storage and freshness... and TADA, you're done.

Easy to make, quick... and hey, doesn't cost anything. Of course, you don't have to use an antique tray to holds things like I did. Hey, it was handy.

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

heh, I smash all types of different flakes/ spirulina into one powder and one type of food has to be the best for it hard to get killifish fry to eat it tho(have to move it around as if it's alive), but once started they don't stop.

Hi FryFeeders!

I'm in a bit of a crossroad, since my angels are spawning like crazy, I've been feeding the fry Wardley Small Fry liquid food. Needless to say, it makes a mess out of the tank water and I'm not very sure it's the best solution either nutrition or cost wise.

So I'm wondering if any has a recipe for a liquid food, I've tried the crushed flake food and it's still to big for them I guess, because I don't see then eating it, should I just add distilled water to the crushed food, would that work?

Thanks

Live Brine Shrimp is the best food for Angel fry & it doesn't mess the water.

I'd go live brine or live daphnia Falstaff, or even MW or VE.

If not, perhaps frozen? crushed peas? gelatine-type homemade frozen food?

I know live food is the best, but unfortunately I don't have access to it, I used to feed them daphnia, but they used to get a lot of diseases to, so I stopped. So far the liquid food works well it's just messy, and from I've read in the ingredients it's just egg yolk.
