YAY! Finally getting off the 10 gallons! My teacher offered me a 20 gallon long with the stand and hood and everything! I just went out and bought the heater, filter, and gravel. I just set it all up and its running as iam writing this. Iam going to let it cycle from 1-2 weeks then add fish. Iam gonna let my male betta live in there right now by him self with the heater off but i dont know what temp to keep it at? But my main question here is what to put in there. I want rainbows maybe two. But then what else? Iam open to all sugusstions!

Most tropical fish like there heat somewhere around 75. If you set it there, your betta will be happy (At least thats where my betta likes it) ^_^ Plus that way no matter what you wind up getting you can either turn it up a little or down a little...

That's really good news Peter.

Take your time to cycle it & you'll have plenty of time to see what to do with it. Just be patient & you'll go a great tank.

My male betta, Buddy is at home in his 10g tank with harlequin rasboras, otos and panda cories. The other fish all set him off in colour, he looks great and the harlies are also dazzling. Make sure you look for gentle fish that don't have large trailing fins, bettas will fight fish that look at all like them! Also fish that serve a purpose like gravel clean-up and algae destroying are a great addition to any tank, although pandas like to have their own food as well as any other fish. Avoid nippy fish like tiger barbs. Cherry barbs may be ok.Schoolers like neon tetras always look great with bettas and their colours usually complement the colours of most bettas. Rainbows are gorgeous as well but be warned they may compete with the betta in the size and looks department. That's why I chose fish that complement my betta, are smaller than him and provide something else to look for in the tank. We play hunt the pandas and otos daily! LOL

Iam deciding not to put the betta in there. I am thinking maybe a school of neons, or harlies with a pair of Rainbows? You know the Big ones with fantastic colour.
