While Wolf Fishes (Family Erythrinidae) are particularly ruthless and efficient predators, even they have to tip the hat to Phago maculatus, the Pike Characin.

This is a fish that can NOT be kept with anything that moves. It will attack fishes several times larger than itself, and pursues its predation by biting the fins off other fishes to immobilise them before moving in for the final kill. In effect, it subjects its victims to being flayed alive before being eaten. I once wrote a piece about this critter called The Nastiest Fish In The Aquarium? (before the 2004 Board archiving) and Phago maculatus lives up to its billing in this respect. It even has a snarling grimace on its face that lets you know exactly what its intentions are ...

Do not even think of keeping this fish unless you are prepared to sacrifice feeder guppies (or sometimes larger fishes) to its appetite, and you are also prepared to watch said feeder guppies die a slow death. One reason you will struggle to find it even in specialist 'oddball' collections ...

I would have to say rainbow shark as well - they can't even stand their own type let alone anything else - chase everyone in tank - even larger than themselves... serial killers.... Mine would never let anything be...

of my current fish it would be our texas cichlid. Although she has been known to be fed feeder guppies and decide to adopt a few for a few months.

whodini hates my ex Ki!! lol i know!!! but a couple yrs ago ki bought 2 freshwater eels whodini and zippy had great battles and whodini would jump out some how and we would find him on the carpet nearly dryed up, would throw him back into the tank and a little while later there he was back on the floor, soo ki brings whodini over and we put him in my 20 gal at the time. which is on a shelving unit with a shelf above the tank, well ki comes over, opens the top & sticks his head under the shelf, above the tank looking straight down, saying "hi whodini" shaking his head wellll whodini didn't like that and shoots right out of the water and chomps onto ki's nose and slapping his tail all over!!! not letting go of ki nose!!!!!!!!!!!ro ki's screaming trying to get him off his nose , which........is impossible!!!! soo really the question is
Is Whodini evil or is Ki stupid???????
To this day ki has two U- shaped scares on his nose!!!

90g- anguilla rostrata,6 silver dollars,2 pictus catfish 60 g- anguilla rostrata 29g-4 blk skirt&4 serpia tetras, 6 harliquin resbora, 3kuhli loach 20g- 2 mountian minnows, 2 zebra danio& dojo loach , a corn snake and 2 monster dogs

well.. my fish are all nice and loving and cute.

but i do have a male pineapple swordtail that staked his claim to the lower lefthand corner of the tank, and if anyone comes near they get a quick nip!

oh.. and on that note i did have a quite evil Alligator Snapping turtle who ate anything i stuck in the tank:

Depends on your point of view doesnt it? I think fish are above or below simple morality. Evil is keeping them in with other fish they can eat, surely?

Mine is probably the Arowana, but then he never has the chance to do anything bad! He has as yet an untold capacity for evil...muhahahahahah.He looks kinda friendly if the truth be told and he never nips me, so were buddies. Unless hes a total coward of course
