Don't know if anybody can remember, but six months ago i got my own flat so needed advise no moving my tanks.

Now 6 months on the landlord has sold his flat and i'm moving out again!

So back to the mothers until i manage to buy a house!!

i'm unable to take a lot of water this time and i'm intending to move in fish in a tall bucket - what would be the best way to introduce them.

also if i drain my 20g - leaving in plants gravel etc will the plants/ bacteria last couple hours out of water ??- i will leave some in just to wet the gravel, anymore and it will be to heavy to carry.
and will shock of new different water harm them???

Cheers Shekoi.

Is there anyways you could just get a few extra buckets with lids and transport some of the drained water with you? Even if it was only about 50% it would then be similar to doing a larger water change.

This may seem way out. Go to McDonalds and ask for their empty buckets I have bought several over the years cost a donation to one of their charities. They are usually the pickle buckets hold about 20+lt

I dont know if you have the "Home Depot" over there but they sell nice buckets for 1.50 with lids. I bought 4 of them for my tank upkeep.

Keith I never thought about McDs, but if you have a local Pastry/Donut Shop they have buckets also, and sometimes they don't charge, or if they do it isn't much...have fun:%)heidi

My small tank is successfully move and fully setup with no problems.

i moved the fish and around 1/3 of the water in a poly box from LFS. i moved the plants and 1/3 water in a large bucket i use for water changes.
all fish seem fine.

Now for the 40g!:%)

1 problem the base needs a little fixing which can only be done when the tank has been removed.

Could i devide the fish form 40g into my 2 spare tanks 10g and 15g just over night? this will allow me to dismantal the tank and fix the base then set up tank with out leaving the fish in bags and boxes.

Cheers shekoi.

Should not be a problen at all. Mine were in a large plastic new rubbish bin and plastic boxes for over a month after my tank busted. I had to wait for insurance to sort it all out.

If you think you are about to move soon again, i would suggest going bare tank for now. Easy to clean and easy to move with. Just drain water, bag fish and move tank
