This just absolutely ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooo happy for you. My angels spawn constantly but I never have any survivors.

Send more pics as the babies become more distinctively Angels.

By the way, nice tank setup. Very attractive. And love the Koi Angel. The other one looks like a Dalmation!

It is neat watching how they guard the eggs and the female fanning the eggs with her little fins it is quite amazing to watch, the parents are still in 'full enhanced color'.
Will be neater to see them with fry

You can feed Angel fry some Microworms for the first few days & then feed them Live Brine Shrimp.

Cool!! Is it spawning season? mine laid again 2 days ago, and this morning they are already hatched, so here I go again, I haven't even got the first batch to get homes and now I have another!!! Do they ever stop, or will they continue doing it over and over?

I only feed then Tetra-min pro. no live foods whatsoever, it's so difficult to get good quality live food here, I used to feed then daphnia, but I used to get very sick fish all the time, so I stopped and they have just been eating flakes for over 6 months now, I even managed to make my halfbeaks to love it.

I lend my camera to a friend so no photo today of the newborns, I'll keep you posted tomorrow.

DaFishMan, congrats on the eggs! Watching them take care of them is one of the coolest things I ever had the chance to witness and yes I've thought about it, but I have no idea how to go about it, I'll have to ask around.

Falstaf,

You started a chain reaction. I have eggs on the side of my tank this morning I've only had this pair 2 weeks.

Are you feeding brine shrimp or microworms ?
How long till your eggs hatched ?

Hi, my angels laid eggs today at 2pm, i have some pics and video, just have to put them on pc so ill post some pics later.

They paired up about 2 weeks ago and have been cleaning and defending an area for about 4 days, yesterday they strated to show their egg tube etc so i turned down the powerfilter.

They are in a 38g 3ft tank, the eggs are being laid on an Anubia leaf that is near the surface, so far there is over a hundred eggs and they are still going.

The water is ph 6.6-6.8 temp 26-27, they get fed a good flake in the morning, bloodworms of an evening and i add live shrimp and mosqutio fish about once a week, as i have baby bettas also i have been giving them live BBS since the paired so that may have helped.

That is absolutely wonderful to hear! I wish I had a larger tank. I would consider maybe buying some of them from you. I will let you know when I get another tank lol. Please continue posting pictures of them they are so adorable!

I have no idea!! Some friends will take some, they are as excited as me to see the babies, so now they want to have tanks, 2 of then are already cycling their new tanks (good way to lure more hobbyists in ). I want to keep some for a new planted tank, but since a 20G bow front I can only keep max 4.

The other I have no idea what to do with them, I guess I'll have to exchange them for store credit or find them new loving homes.

They are becoming more and more active (not a good thing for the restless parents) it's harder to photograph them, but here is today's image update.

Hi all, Well this is truly first one and unexpected too, last week I came home to find that my pair of pearl scale angels where breeding, I didn't get my hopes to high because they are on a community tank. 5 Hours later all the eggs where gone, they laid them on an Amazon sword in the tank.

Monday night came home to find out they had laid eggs again, not being too optimistic about the outcome I just left them alone to do their thing, they where more aggressive than last time with all the other fish in the tank. I just came home and saw no eggs on the original leave so I thought they ate them again, well no!!! the eggs hatches and they passed the fry to another more horizontal leave!!!, they are so cute taking care of them, both of them, carrying in their mouth back on top of the leave if they fall.

here are some photos.

What are your pH, temp etc?

I stopped testing my water a long time ago, since it's a heavily planted tank. Ph was always low about 6.8 to 7. No nitrates, no amonia. Temp is at 28.5C. Water changes every 4 weeks 25%.

Congrats Falstaf !

Your Angelfish are very nice, especially that one with a bit of red up top. Some kind of 'night-light' will aid the parents in defending the fry. Good Luck
