I wouldn't necessarily blame the supplier either. With shipping fish there are SO many factors when you do this. As cory said, always try and get mid week shipping. NEVER near a friday, and certainly not on a monday. Each company has their problems. Its really not their specialty shipping fish anyway. Who knew what was in those boxes. Shipping mid winter is especially risky - to the point that i wouldn't recommend it anyway. |

Amazingly, they were both alive, though the male had ammonia burn. Also, a co2 system I ordered once was lost... and I had to pay the fee all over again! Very frusterating... |

On friday when the fish were supposed to be here the weather was great (for Michigan standards this time of year) it was about 45 degrees. The fish were placed in breather bags and had 48 hour heat packs. 48 hours apparantly isn't enough with DHL! |

I would specify a Wednesday delivery. Not too early to be packed on a truck on Saturday to sit out in the cold on a truck and not too late to get stuck waiting for Monday. Mine was Fed Ex and the delay was well known - the big snowstorm a few weeks back. Poor fish. I don't know where you are, but you are lucky they didn't come as a frozen brick. I don't know that I could order livestock this time of year in the cold season. It is the shipping variables we can't control that just pits me against it. |
