If you can find them, Corydoras habrosus will fit the bill nicely. You could have 8 in there (they're a small species) and the group of 8 will be lively and happy. Chances are they might even breed in there given enough time and frequent live food treats! ![]() I'd also watch those Tiger Barbs. Your Black Widows/Black Skirts (insert huge list of common names for them from here on in ) have a somewhat nippy tendency of their own, but it might be a good idea to make plans for rehousing the Tiger Barbs if they start persecuting your Tetras. Hopefully the Black Skirts will be capable of taking the rough and tumble (they're decently hardy fishes) but I'd still be watchful just in case! |

About six emerald corys will make a good energetic group and will be fun to watch. -Newbreeder16[img src='/images/forums/halo.gif' border=0] _______________________________________________ You can call me Newb too, since I'm not nere new any more. |

It's just because i was advised that one pleco wasn't necessarily enough for a 60 gallon and i was told some ottos would be good...??!! |

mrsmonty![]() Hobbyist Posts: 124 Kudos: 58 Votes: 33 Registered: 27-Sep-2005 ![]() | hey... well i just contacted a pet shop here and they've told me that they will take the fish i no longer want from me!!! now, problem is, i'm not sure exactly what other kind of fish i will want. here is what will be left of my 60 gal. -6 zebra stripped danios -1 pleco (i know he doesn't clean, but i like him) -5 neons -a couple fancy tail guppies (i currently have 10, will bring it down to 1 grown female and 3 little ones in the tank until the fry are big enough to go in...) -2 mixed fruit tetras (the pink ones) -1 male betta Now, my plan is to get more neons to up the school, get white skirt tetras so they school with my mixed fruit (since i don't want any of the colour infused fish anymore), 6 to 8 ottos, and i'm looking for one more little school of colourful, friendly fish to complete my aquarium. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated! Thank you in advance, Brattygirl29! ![]() |

Seeings you have mostly mid-top fish, how about some bottom dwellers aside from the pleco? I know you are interested in 6 ottos, but do you really have enough algae to feed a common pleco and 6 ottos? I would leave the ottos out, or go with a group of 3 at most. Maybe go with a Group of 6 Corydoras catfish Another option would be a group of Loaches- a smaller species 4 inches or less in a group of 3 would work- maybe yoyo loaches, polka dot loaches, dwarf chain loaches, kuhli loaches, etc. Another option would be a group of 3 Bolivian Rams. These are great bottom swimming fish, excellent for picking food off the bottom, beautiful, and they have personality plus. mrsmonty![]() Hobbyist Posts: 124 Kudos: 58 Votes: 33 Registered: 27-Sep-2005 ![]() | i know that fish are something to keep and uphold... i have had those fish for at least a year... i just recently decided i didn't want a mish mash of pairs of fish and i wanted to unify it... all the guppies i had were fish that were born into my tank... thanks for all your suggestions. I got 6 long finned gold skirt tetras (they're white haha), i got 6 tiger barbs, although i'm gonna up that school bc they are soooooo beautiful and i got 7 more neons, which brought me to about 13 or 14..(they won't stop moving so i can't get a firm count). Petsmart here didn't have any ottos, so i will be going to another petstore to check it out later on in the week. i am very happy to see that my mixed fruit tetras are already schooling with the others!! Thanks again, and keep the suggestions coming! |

chrism![]() Enthusiast Posts: 152 Kudos: 109 Votes: 19 Registered: 14-Jul-2004 ![]() | I personally would avoid too many shoals of different fish, i used to have (well still do have some of them) zebra danio's red eye tetras, and cardinals all in the same tank and it looked a bit of a mish mash, wasnt as big as yours mind... But id see how it goes, up the neons, then the whiteclouds, then the otto's see what you think after each one ![]() |

Except I would make a school of 15+(probably even go up to 20, which makes a stunning and beautiful school) neon tetras at least. You can also have more otos than that in the tank. I am glad to see you are going with whiteclouds and not the dyed version You can get some decent sized schools of those fish into the tank. Only after you have increased all those schools, would I consider another fish, as you might see that the large schools will change the behavior of the fish and also look much better than a menagerie of fish. I think you have enough species in the tank as is, HTH, Megil. ![]() |
