Hello, I just recently found this site and was wondering if I could receive some help from everone out there. I purchased a 45 gallon (actually it's called a 44 Pentagon PFH, so I assume it's actually 44 gallons) tank and I was wondering what would be good to stock this tank with. I've thought about going with some larger fish, but then I don't know. I want something colorful, but practical (nothing like parahans). I have a 10 gallon tank that I'm getting rid of for this one. Big difference. Are there any other hints or clues that you could inform me of. I plan on letting the tank run for at least three days before I add any fish. Thank you, Nick.

The tank measures 22Lx22Wx22H (actual water is 22" high, whole tank is 24" high). I am not sure on the amount of light, I have one floresent (sp?) light bar at the top. It was kind of an impulse thing, I liked the 10 gallon and the 44 fit right where the 10 gallon tank was, and I got a stand/cover with it as well.

EDIT: I want something that looks pretty realistic, meaning I'm not going to put in small diver dudes and signs. I've thought about going with a lot of schooling fish like neon tetras and small items like that, however, I would like to see some medium sized fish as well. Not sure if this makes sense, but I just want to get some ideas. I've read some of the other posts, but didn't really care for the setup.
