I have an Oscar in a 10 gallon tank and just set up a 55 gallon tank for him. I used a product called cycle which is made to speed up the process for cycling. I set the tank up today, put the de-clorinating and Cycle in and was wondering how long it would take to cycle the tank? Also, can anyone make a suggestion in cycling the tank? I have 20 tetras in there right now. How long would it take and any suggestions would be great.

the cycling period can take up to a month or if could take a week depending on what you sorce of bacteria is and how luky you are. so there is no set amout of time it takes to cycle a tank. but going back on my other point of bacteria, personaly i don't think those products like stress zuyme and cycle are very effective cause i can't think how suposed bacteria can stay alive in bottle with no "food" or oxygen. so i normaly take some mature filter media from another tank to suply the bacteria

Cycling may take alot of time. The best thing is to use some filter media & some gravel from another tank, so you'll get some bacteria in your new tank.

I hope that you'll remove the Tetra's, before moving the Oscar in the 55 gal. tank.

personally id put the oscar in the 55 and use it to cycle. IMO they are hardy enough to live through some pretty poor conditions.

Id give the tetras back and trade them for some plants or something like that.

Well, I used gravel from 2 different tanks and mixed them. I rinsed them first. As for the fish, My girlfriend said that she'd take care of them for me when they're done cycling my tank. I really don't want to lose my Oscar so I don't want to risk putting him in the tank. As for the cycling, I can wait as long as it takes to fully cycle. I know my fish doesn't really like the fake stuff but he doesn't mind the real plants, and he absolutely loves bubbles so I figured I could get him some bubble wands or stones. Thanks for your help. Although, what is a good amount of everything to put in his tank; live plants, bubble wands, etc.
