Well today i went on the hunt for a Piranha. fisrts i went to a tiny shop where they had one for £15 not long ago. It had been sold . So then i made my away across town to another where i searched the shop high and low. Didn't find any

As i left the assistant asked if i was looking for anything imparticular. I told him i was looking for a piranha and he said they had loads!! What an idiot i'd gone past a 60g tank full of em!!

He's about 3.5" and he was £7.50 (not too bad)

When i got him home i did the usual float the bag and water gradually. But he just sat on the bottom of the tank panting!!

I came in a couple of hours later and he's swimming around like fish should!! i wanted to call him jack the nipper but he's been named "pete the piranha" - not my choice

so i suppose i should add a pic of him. Heres a close up of him in his bag

thanks. I'm still trying to decide what to feed him. I think he'll accept ghost shrimp. He looks to ickle to eat feeders. Might go and get some meat out the freezer

Sorry they only had 2 anyway. my reasons for getting one were

1. i could only afford one
2. They only had two anyway
3. I don't want to overload the filter to quickly

I plant to get another one sometime this week. I'll gradually build the shoal up to 4-6

That would be cool exept i live in the UK and im not sure they would be able to be shipped here. I know fish come to the fish shops all the way from singapore. But i don't know if the P+P charges would make them more expensive.

Red-bellied piranhas get up to 16" long and will outgrow a 65 gallon tank pretty quickly.

Potential Size: 30cm (11.8"

Maybe 16" in the wild.

They're only in a 33g for under a year. Or whenever i find the room to assemble my 200g. (Most likely when i move out)
