I've just been out shopping. And bought some new fish foods for my little pals.

Tetra has expanded the range. There is now TetraPro Colour (which I've bought), TetraPro Vegetable (which I've bought), TetraPro Guppy, TetraPro Betta, and TetraMin Crisps.

I'l be road testing some of these and I'll let you know what my fish think of them.

Awesome Cali

I'll be sure to check for those at work, and see if the store bought any. Usually we feed live and give Aquarian flakes, but there's a chance we may be feeding some of those new tetra foods.

I'm interested...

I'm curious about not only the taste of these foods, but the nutritional value as well. You never know, one of these might be worth buying consistently. I also will be checking at work to see if any of these new foods have arrived. Maybe I'll try one out, to see how things go.

OK, so far, so good.

The fish certainly go for these foods with a vengeance. Mine do, anyway.

Ity has to be said that some of these new Tetra foods are the weirdest-looking fish foods I've seen in a long time. The TetraPro Vegetable consists of round discs that are a sort of clay brown in colour, with a dark green spot in the middle. The TetraPro Colour food looks like iron ore. But, I can't argue with the rate at which my fish wolf them down!

The TetraPro Vegetable food has added spirulina. These flakes aren't pur spirulina by any stretch of the imagination (my Pandas wouldn't touch them if they were - they like their animal matter!) but the Otocinclus seem to have woken up surprisingly quickly to the fact that the TetraPro vegetable discs contain added algae, and actually compete for them when they drift down to the bottom.

The TetraPro Colour food again seems to inspire healthy displays of competition for the choicest nibbles. The only thing is, in my aquaria, they look utterly garish when they float down. The fish devour them eagerly, I can't argue with that, but the individual discs look like something from Mars under fluorescent illumination!

Still, if this helps keep my fish bouncing with vitality and bursting with colour, I'm not going to complain.

Casi,

Looks like this product was introduced in the UK under the "TetraPro Range" food line. You may be the test market before it is marketed in the US. The product appears similar to TetraMin Crisps with greater specificity toward feeding. Let us know how this works.

I've picked up a bottle of the TetraPro Color. Supposedly higher in nutrients than the regular tetra flakes, but aparently the nutrients are guilty of my algae problem. I'm having feed a little bit of the color first, then follow with regular (to make sure that any of the color that falls to the bottom can be cleaned up immediatly by hungry fish, and then the regular can sit for the bottom feeders)

Fortunately that's not a problem with me Sandy - my Pandas will devour every last morsel

So far, they like it. The Lemons attack the colour food with a gusto that has to be seen to be believed. They practically leap out of the water in their eagerness to eat the discs!

I tried the Tetra Pro Crisp last year at some point and I wasn't too impressed, the fish didn't seem any different and didnt' seem to eat it as well...

The Tetra Pro Betta, isn't what I was expecting either though Bad Boy is beginning to eat them at times He is a rather picky eater at times. But he has begun to eat them better.

Just my 2 cents, anyone try the Tetra Pro Guppy yet? I'd be interested in it...Heidi

So far, so good. My Characins are loving the new addition to the diet, and the Pandas seem pretty keen too, although they've shown a definite preference for the colour discs over the vegetable ones, which I suspect was likely to happen anyway. The Lemons become absolute gluttons when this hits the water, and seem to like the colour discs and the vegetable discs equally. The Pencil Fish, as always, rush to the surface, then discover that these things are a bit different from the regular flakes, and put on a display of 'tug-o-war' antics with the discs

The Otocinclus have discovered that I now add the vegetable discs to the water sometimes, and seem to be pretty good at remembering what they're like - when I add some, they pop out from various nooks & crannies to see where they're falling, so I try to make sure that some are moistened to fall to the bottom for the Otocinclus.

Thus far, happy fish, no problems showing up, but quite a few comedy antics from fish that are literally madly eager to devour them!

Tetra makes a great line of foods! Do they make a line of treats? Are blood worms one of them? Do the fish like them? Are they good for guppies and tetras? Need answers.

Thanks a bunch

Update.

Test going well. The fish love them. It's like a shark feeding frenzy when I drop them in.

And they seem to be intensifying in colour too, even though they've been fed live food and colour flake for several years beforehand. Looks like good stuff. So, I'll list these as being on my "recommended" list
