The general feeding advice for most fish is to give them what they will eat in about two minutes. This means to only give them enough so that in a couple of minutes all the food is gone and there is not a lot of extra food lying on the substrate. Excess food=excess wastes=toxic levels of ammonia and nitrite.
For the pleco one good sized slice of cucumber or zuchini (blanched) per week should be fine, they also like algae wafers, sinking shrimp pellets, java moss and other fine-leaved plants.

How long has your tank been set-up?

What are you feeding your oscar? If its a pellet food feed a couple of pellets at once and watch to see if he eats them all. If he has then add a couple more. Be sure to take any uneaten foods out after a few hours. As long as it has eaten a couple of pellets you wont have to worry about underfeeding, the oscar wont starve. You will also start to get an idea of how much the oscar eats the longer you keep it.

What sort of pleco do you have? Sometimes shops sell common plecos and give the customer the misconception that it is an algae eater. From what I know they like meaty foods in their diet so if this is the fish you have you will need to add food for it. Frozen bloodworms, and meat based food pellets or discs will do nicely.
A bristlenose plec will eat algae but the tank will soon run out of algae for this plec and you will need to suppliment its diet with algae wafers. Adding cucumber or zucchini is a good idea, weigh down a piece that it about 1-2cm thick and leave for 24hrs. Remove any uneaten and replace if you wish. I place zucchini in once a week as a treat for my bn pleco. You may also find that the bn plec doesnt touch the cucumber/zucchini the first couple of times but keep trying as he will get the idea that it is food eventually.

HTH..

Feed your Oscar what he can eat in a minute or two & what are you feeding him?.

You can also feed your Pleco sinking Algae Tablets & if you feed him Cucumber, take the leftover bits within 24 hours.
