How long has it been set up, and what is your fish stock? You may need to either just wait for the tank to rid itself of the nitrites (through growth of nitrogen-fixing bacteria) or actually add a bacterial supplement to the water. Another question, what kind of test kit are you using? The dip strips are largely inaccurate and often give false readings. This is an issue that comes up often. |

I am using the 5 tests in one strip "Quick Dip: Aquarium multi test kit made by Junle. I added biospira to my tank which already had 5 danios in it. After that I Took water to be tested everything was good (levels I mean). So I added more fish gouramis, 3 cori catfish. A week later I took my water to be tested they said it was time for a water change so I did a 25% water change. Now I can't get my levels to level out. Do I just wait is there something else I can do? I def should not add more fish, right? |

Exactly how many fish and their sizes. Plants live or artifical? What are your water peramiters now? I still think that your tank was not fully cycled and you added the extra fish too many or too fast or both. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I suggest seeing if you can find a local shop that either offers to test water for free and uses the chemical drips, or actually sells the liquid tests. I find them to be a lot more trustworthy. |
