Ok, my 40 gal now has a breeding pair of Zebra
Veil-Tail Angelfish !!! Bought from someone that raised them from dime size... Silver body and black stripes, pretty nice, I could not say no.

They are in with the German Blue Rams until I figure something out tank/space wise... want both to eventually breed

Here's the stocking - 40gal breeder tank 36Lx18Wx15H.

1 pair angels
4 german blue rams - 1 male, 3 female
8 otocinclus
small handful guppys and platys
1 bn pleco
4 amano shrimp

Overstocked or is this acceptable for now ?

wow that is alot of fishes, the livebeaers stand out in my mind, as in they dont belong, there, b/c of the angels. and the ottos wouldn't be in there if it was to me.

I think it looks to be fine. As for the livebearers, why would they not belong? Especially with the angels? Not that guppies in specific, but there are many livebearers from the same waters as the angels. After all, many species of live bearers come from Central and South America.

Basically I think the stocking is fine.

The only reservation I have is that I have a hard time identifying “a small handful” of fish .

If a small hand full is over 10 of each then you might be on the “way stocked” side. If it is maybe 5 each then I think you are fine. Anything in between can go either way.

I think that you're fine & if the Guppy's & Platy's will breed, the Angel will take control of the fry & you wouldn't see much of them.

Guppies fry can be food for the angels

That looks ok, although someone's going to post the obligatory "angels need a taller tank" i'm sure.

Just don't add anything else and you'll be ok

I have to agree, stocking looks fine, unless the Angels turn out to be a pair, and then there might be a problem Otherwise it doesn't look like you will have any problem with guppy fry overstocking the tank, or fresh foods for the others I know simply dropping a Betta Babe in my 20 gallon of "ugly guppies" took care of my overstocking problem

I wanted to wait to take a pic as just replanted everythig following a leak repair. BUT I may just snap one tonight though if you guys can forgive the cruddy aquascaping...
I will post the angels in here, and more into Aquascaping to seek some advice. Thanks for the support !

As of this morning the Angels appeared to be ok in their new home.
