Hello I have a few questions as to how and when, the usuall lol

I have two oscars, and they seem to be ummmm......more friendly then any others I have seen (Some close family members also keep Oscars) they always swim together and eat together they dont compete at all...they also do this thing that when they are "hovering" they touch there tails together!
They also "swim dance" together..but thing is they are still quite young about 3 inches long...they should not be showing pairing yet should they????? Also the chances of having a pair are very slim are they not???

I'm going trying to find out what there up to. Could they be a "childhood love" type thing where they will stick together for ever

Could someone please help me?
I want to know if I'll have babys in the future to plan for seeing these things sizes........

Thanks for any input

they're juveniles...juvenile cichlids will usually stick together. the old "there's safety in numbers" idea. oscars usually won't reach maturity and show signs of pairing until around 6" or so. and since you only have 2, yes it is very unlikely that you'll wind up with a pair.

HAHA I thought so!! My boyfriend didn't belive me now I have someone on my side

Another question if you don't mind,

Will these two get agressive when getting older? My boyfriends brother has two and they get along fine, but were introduced at a diffrent time from one another...IMO I thought that was a bad idea and it was...the smaller one got beat up constantly for about a month BUT they are buddies now..
Another friend of mine has three all also put in seperate and they as well are now buddys should I have done it this way (which I don't like watching them fight) or should I be fine with what im doing now???

Another question if you don't mind,

I certainly don't mind...ask all the questions you want.

however, before I can answer this question I have to ask you one. What size tank are they in? The best chance for success when keeping 2 oscars is to get them as young as possible and introduce them together at the same time. However it will still come down to their individual personality, what sex they are and what size tank they are in as to wether or not they'll be compatible.

My babys are currently in a 30 gal, They will have a new home of a 100 Gallons soon to come and it will defently be before they need it, I'm very worried about growth in a small tank as well as all the other concerns So that will not be a problem here =p

Thanks a ton

the sooner you get that bigger tank the better.

One will dart at the other and stirke him, the one getting hit turns on his side, theres no bad damage, and that tank is ordered up, should be 2 to 4 weeks =p

I'm thinking if they don't get along now, that probably won't change even in the bigger tank. Granted, in the bigger tank they'll be able to avoid each other for a while. But as they get to around 8-10" they'll find each other again and this time they will be able to do damage.

Once you get the new tank, you might consider getting 2-3 more oscars. This way you'll be able to find 2 that get along...in fact you might even be able to get a breeding pair that you can keep in the 100 gallon.
