Old Question:
I've got a well planted 55G currently with:
7 Serpae Tetras
9 Tiger Barbs
4 Ottos
4 Corys
2 Bolivian Rams
a Guppy

I want to move the guppy & corys to a 15 (and bump the cory school up by 2) and then ADD 2 Neon Dwarf Gouramis and 6 Neon Tetras

That would come out to 58.8" of fish after being adjusted in a 55G well planted tank. Would this be too overstocked? And how could I fix this if it is without loosing either species of neon (looking to add some blue to the tank ^_^*)?

Alright, I've adjusting my stock as the following, but there are a few changes I want to know about:

9 Tiger Barbs
7 Serpae Tetras
4 Ottos (bumping up to 6)
2 Sunset Dwarf Gouramis
2 Bolivian Rams

I would like to get rid of the Tiger Barbs and add 2 Angelfish and I would like to know a little about getting Red Tailed Black Shark, or if one would clash with the current stocking

Without Tiger Barbs I would have 24" of tank to play with. I do want Angelfish or something just as flashy. What sort of bioload change would happen with that as well?

I do have a slight algae problem I'm dealing with currently, but I believe its from over feeding, not worried about it right now (I've been doing 15-25% water changes every other day).

I wouldn't add a pair of Drawf Gourami just because (IME) they've nipped at each other...

Maybe look at a Paradisefish of some kind...?

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

I can't find paradisefish around here, and I'm looking for blue colored fish, preferably surface dwelling

Edit: err, alright, although they are blue, I'd worry about the longer fins with the tiger barbs

I don't think there would be a problem with you adding the neons or gouramis. Male dwarf gouramis do sometimes nip at each other, but usually refrain from doing so in larger tanks. Or, if you could just add a male/female pair, you wouldn't have to worry about them nipping each other at all. Just be careful with those tiger barbs and serpae tetras, they are the ones to be worried about.

instead of neon dwarf gouramis, why not some neon dwarf rainbow fish?

they're pretty and would hold their own better against tiger barbs than the gouramis would (and are prettier IMO too)

I agree with Lisa on this one, neon dwarf rainbowfish are beatiful.

If you want to go with the neon blue dwarfs though, or if you can't find the rainbows, make sure if you get two males, and that they have enough room to establish territory. Otherwise there could be some serious nipping. Also, make sure you add them at the same time.
