I have been a long time reader of the site, but this is the first time I have had a need to post. anyway, I have had my tank for a while and everything has been good, and have kept a steady PH of about 7 with this white powder from the LFS, but lately it seems I cant keep the PH above 6.5, regardless of water changes or the powder? any ideas?? |

Meaning, is your water really soft? Very low GH readings mean that there is not a lot of buffer in the water, so any element that softens water (peat moss, wood) in the tank can cause the ph to drop even further. Ingo |

Then let the water sit for 24 hours in a container and test it again. The water should de-gas during the period and your pH will be different or be the TRUE pH. ![]() __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |
