hi all this is a question I'm trying to get an answer in the past few days I have like 5x Guppy die in side my tank. I just bought a tetra test laborett which the guy in fish store suggest me. He told me that the PH lvl inside my tank might be a little too high for my gubby to live so he suggest me buy a kind of tablet that lower the PH lvl to 7. does that help at all ?

What is you ph.If its less than about 8.3 then you dont need to lower your ph. There are only a few fish that need specific ph levels to survive. How big is the tank. Also what are the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels. They are the levels you need to be concerned about.

Hi and Welcome to FP. First of all What size tank do you have and is it fully cycled. If possible can you please post your water parameters. As far your ph goes as long as it's stable in your tank your guppies should be fine (unless of course it's over 8). So adding the tablets was probably useless.

Guppies are quite hardy and could probably survive a ph over 8. The only times I've heard of ph causing death was when it was changed quickly or the buffer was too low and the ph dropped below 6. Most ph changing chemicals are not a good idea because they don't create a stable ph. A constantly changing ph is much worse than a ph that's a bit high or low.

The ammonia most likely killed it. The tank is overstocked too. Its probably went into mini cycle when you added some fish.
