And if you want, and the waters good, you could probably up a newt down the road. I'd just watch the betta girls. Sometimes, they don't play too well with each other... |

Fish Guy![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1091 Kudos: 1254 Votes: 2 Registered: 28-Jan-2004 ![]() | Yup I have gone with WCMM for the tank. So its going to be 2-3 newts and 8 WCMM. |

Fish Guy![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1091 Kudos: 1254 Votes: 2 Registered: 28-Jan-2004 ![]() | Hmmmmmmmm I might get some danios i guess, i already have WCMM in another tank, but i mgith just use them maybe. |
Janna![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 ![]() | Neons aren't that hardy though. Why not do danios or WCMMs? They're fast, small, cheap, and hardy. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |

Fish Guy![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1091 Kudos: 1254 Votes: 2 Registered: 28-Jan-2004 ![]() | Ok heres the final stocking list, i think lol. -2 firebellied newts -6 guppies -2 cherry barbs |
Fish Guy![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1091 Kudos: 1254 Votes: 2 Registered: 28-Jan-2004 ![]() | Well i really just want some nice colorful fish in there. Something like neons or guppies or just anyfish that is nice and bright. |

Although nice, powerheads might be a bit too much current for a newt. As for fish, go to the store, look at what you like, and bring a list back here. Obviously, your tank is on the small size and, with the newts, you can't have many of the fish here. But, if you give us an idea of what kind of fish you like, we can help you. And I'm not putting down betta girls, I'm just saying that you should remember agression when you buy them. |

Undergravel and a powerhead. You can hide most of the tubing behind the waterfall. You mentioned "beach rocks"... are these rocks you found on the beach? If so, do a vinegar test to make sure they are safe. Scrape or break the rock and pour a little vinegar on the exposed area and look for bubbles. If there's no bubbles, it's safe for any fish. For stocking ideas, I'd go with the gouramis. I'm not too familiar with newts, so I'm not sure if they would eat any smaller fish. If not, I'd maybe think neons or other tetras. |

Fish Guy![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1091 Kudos: 1254 Votes: 2 Registered: 28-Jan-2004 ![]() | I am plannign on making my ten gallon a paladarium. But i was wondering what i could stock it with? I was hoping to get at least two newts for it. But what fish? Also i was wondering how i could make a water fall for it and at the same time have good filteration? |
Fish Guy![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1091 Kudos: 1254 Votes: 2 Registered: 28-Jan-2004 ![]() | I just thought of this, how about some dwarf puffers for the tank or are they to nippy for the newts? |
Fish Guy![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1091 Kudos: 1254 Votes: 2 Registered: 28-Jan-2004 ![]() | I want it to look a bit natural aswell. Also would water sprit be good i have some of that here and its growing mad? Also what should be the final stocking list? I was thinking maybe 2 firebellied newts, and 3-4 female bettas? but i would like anymore suggestions aswell. |

The only ones sold around here are rated for tanks 55 gallons and up! Are you sure you can't find internal filters? What store are you buying from? Most stores use box filters in their tanks. If you can't find an internal power filter, a box (or 2 - 3) might do the trick. Bettas are nice and might be the better choice depending on how much you fill the tank up. If you want a shallow tank then a betta is about the only fish you can have. If you have a filled tank with rocks and plants for the newts, gouramis are also a good choice. Dwarf gouramis aren't as moody as bettas, which sometimes are bad apples and would go ape on the newts. Last edited by djtj at 02-Jun-2005 19:33 |

Fish Guy![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1091 Kudos: 1254 Votes: 2 Registered: 28-Jan-2004 ![]() | Hmmmmmmm.....I think i will go with mostly water i guess. I plan to have a bunch of beach rocks stacked up in one corner, with maybe a water fall going down over it, but the only filters i can get a hold of where i live is mostly HOB filters. But i'll try to figure out something. And also have one or two long rocks sticking out of the water. |

I have all live plants in there, so I don't have to worry much about circulation, but more keeping the water level up. Are you planning mostly water, or half and half? |
