Mia![]() Hobbyist Posts: 86 Kudos: 79 Votes: 2 Registered: 20-Mar-2005 ![]() | I am looking for advise on the tank mates I have chosen for my comunity. Also how many of each type and which ones may be the best to start the tank with. My tank is 75 gallons. CHECKER BARB 6-8 HARLEQUIN RASBORA 8-10 FLAME TETRA 8-10 DWARF GOURAMI 4-6 PANDA CORY 4-6 UPSIDE-DOWN CATFISH 4-6 PLATY 6-8 I am also looking for ideas of anything else that might go well with this tank. Perhaps a peaceful cichlid? Thanks!! |

Gouramis are territorial and fight alot. If you only put 1 or 2 in the tank, it should be ok. Then you'd have room for rams. - DJ :88) Last edited by djtj at 20-Mar-2005 18:41 |

They are some of the more peaceful gouramis, and usually will not fight with each other. When 'battles' do arise (usually between males in smaller tanks), no actual harm comes to the fish. That stocking list looks fine, the fish all seem to be pretty compatible. I would go with the upper range that you chose number-wise, most all of the fish that you picked out will be happier in larger groups. You actually could add one or two pairs of dwarf cichlids (they tend to be quite peaceful) without dropping any of the other fish. The cichlids tend to hang out near the bottom of the tank, and you don't have a whole lot of bottom feeders. Ram cichlids and cichlids of the Apistogramma genus would be the easiest for you to find and care for, and most of these fish are very colorful as well. Good luck with your tank, and welcome to the site! ![]() |

I was looking in to Ram cichlids and Dwarf cichlids, but from my research the dwarf's have a like for warmer water then the rest so I wasn't to sure on that. Thanks again!![]() |
