The tankmates they go best with would be the tough-as-nails catfish like shovelnoses or plecos. They literally have armor-bodies so they won't get that hurt if the piranha's try to take a nip. |

However, if well fed, most of the less aggressive species tend to keep to themselves, with the occassional tankmate casualty, but nothing serious. |
