about the only positive thing is that they are close to my house. The reason i say that is cuz they always have the same exact fish, everyhting looks the same, nothing changes, and every time i go in, the worker guy follows me around the whole time... and my dad has known the guy for over 20 years............

well i actually work at my "lfs." i've worked there for over a year, but tuesday is actually my last day because i'm moving. so i might be a little biased in the positive things i see in the store.

we never sell sick fish. we keep our tanks pretty and clean. we don't lie to customers to get sales. we don't sell fish to customers we know will not provide proper conditions for them. the staff are friendly and helpful. in fact, the staff are the best part of the store!!!

Nah, I didn't find brevis Ive kinda given up on them I like my bettas

I went to a shop in hornsby called "Pet paradise" or something like that. It looked like they had some nice shellie shells though, they were labelled as hermit crab shells but they were pretty cool...

lets see, some good points about my favourite LFS, wide range of both fw and marine species all healthy and all kept in well-maintained tanks of appropriate size, etc... not too bad on prices, large selection of tanks, supplies and equipment, knowledgable staff... bad points?? i actually can't think of any

Ok good points of my Fish store are that I can pretty much get anything I want at discount or free. Since I picked up this crazy hobby a few months ago Ive pretty much lived, breathed, and spent ALOT of $$ at my LFS. So they know who I am there and give me almost cost on everything for example I bought a 125g 3 days ago and the stand for it was $370. The guy looked up his cost $225 and sold it to me for $275 and said he was happy to make $50 bucks off the sale. SO I love that. Although considering in the Last 2 months alone I have spent well over $2,000 dollars there its know wonder they do stuff like that for me. I am pretty sure I am the best customer.... Well that is the positive things

Chris

It's a bit of a drive but I love [link=Aquarium Center]http://www.aquariumcenter.com/storetour.php" style="COLOR: #FFCC99[/link]. I love wandering the fish room as long as I go during the week when it's less crowded.

[link=Tropical Fish World]http://www.tropicalfishworld.com" style="COLOR: #FFCC99[/link] is a small store with some knowledgeable staff members. They carry a decent variety of cichlids and some other not-too-often seen fish.

Both the PetSmart and PetCo near my home have employees that actually care about their jobs and the fish.

Actually, I have three that have some great points.

A-1 Pets, a privately owned fish and snake store keeps their tanks spotless, though they don't have a lot of tanks, they rotate their stock. They get a lot in that I've never heard of or was surprised they'd get them in.

I have a Wal-mart (one of three) that actually has an experienced fish keeper working there, he keeps the tanks spotless, won't sell sick fish, orders a bigger variety than most wal-marts will stock, and takes the time to help anybody with questions.

My favorite though, is the local Pet City. Traditionally a bad chain, but the manager of this one is meticulous with his fish. He's a large variety of freshwater, and an equally big selection of salt. They also stock a large supply of pond equipment. It's great ^_^

Edit: And all of them are only a five mintue drive ^_^

ERmmm one of mine has a very large selection of dry goods and tanks so you wont' have to order one. The also have a huge selection of both SW and freshwater and healthy looking plants. They're one of the larger LFS's in the area and somewhat annyoing to deal with (especially if a memeber of your party has been caught taking pics of the fish ).

Another of my LFS's is rather helpful and pointed me in the best direction for hunting down a stock tank.

"my" LFS is great. Selection is pretty good, and staff is very friendly, knowlegable and very helpful. I've yet to lose a fish from this store, so I know they have quality fish at competitive prices.
