Hi Don what part of California are you in?
Obviously I can't help (being a New Zealander) but we have a few Californians on this site who might be able to help you

Most wholesalers will not sell to you unless you have a tax ID, meaning you are in fact a business, and even then you will prob have to make a rather large order.

Your best bet for cheap fish is the local chain stores, pet smart; pet super market, ect.

They buy in such a large qty that their prices rarely change. And normally are cheaper than the smaller guy.

I personally do not shop at the chains unless I have too. It's not that they are bad or anything, it's just that I know LFS owners do not make a killing and I would rather spend 2 bucks more for a fish if it means I can help support his Bis. But I do feel your pain.

Send bettachris a PM I know he uses a wholesaler for his bettas, but again I also know he orders in mass qty. He might be able to hook you up, but the cost of shipping might offset the savings.

BTW Welcome to the site.

welcome to fp! n.e way if u can't really afford it, then maybe fish keeping should wait. n.e way like u said wholesalers are best for cheaper fish. since most fish come from south east asia and since the natural disater fish prices might go up. try and contact them at[href]Aquariumfish.net[/href. they are a wholesale in Cali. This is funny b/c tomorrow i am going up to my wholesaler.]
