How many of you guys use the python system for water changes. If yes, do you match water temp from tap by mixing hot and cold water?

I use a Python for doing water changes, but only for filling up the tank (it doesn't have enough suction to effectively drain the tank). As for matching the temperatures, I just make it a little bit cooler than the tank water.

I always thought there was a higher concentration of metals in the hot tap water. I guess it depends on your water system.

Got well water.

I siphon 'bout 25% out and try to match the tank's temp when refilling. Sometimes I go a little colder to simulate rain I guess...

I use one at my office which has a 55 gal. It makes things so much easier and faster. I usually go a little bit warmer.

I use mine on all my tanks, everything from a 125 to my 1 gallons...I use it to suck out and put in...When refilling I use straight cold water, as cold as I can get itof course that right now tends to be a bit warmer than what I'm removing

I was doing a water change last week and I had to use ice to cool my buckets of water down before putting them in the tank. My tap water was flowing at 89 degrees. Anyways, I usually try and match the temps.

So most of you mix the hot and cold from the faucet?

Mix the hot and cold to a temp that matches your tank(I do by hand). I drain with cold water running and then turn the hot on for the last few minutes of draining to ensure any HOT water debries in the pipes get out of them before refilling. And to Cory, you prolly donot have good water pressure, as my python has much stronger suction than a regular siphon, and my python is 75 feet.
