Hey all, I just made the post in the link below yesterday. I could use some help. I don't like posting in the rainbow forum because too few people even go in there.

The rainbow I transferred yesterday will not eat. He takes food in his mouth, then just spits it out. Maybe he isn't as acclimated as I thought. When should I worry? Any ideas?

I tried two of his favorites - floating, freeze-dried Hikari Bloodworms this AM, and thawed frozen bloodworms sunk right down in front of him this afternoon. These are the ones he took in his mouth and spit out. Everyone else enjoyed the meal .

He had a problem eating under tank lighting and preferred room light for surface feeding. I've turned off the tank light in the 20 long now and am waiting a couple hours and will try again with his other favorite, Hikari F.D. Brine Shrimp.

Ideas?

Diane, you definately have more experience than I do, with that being said, give him a a day or two to get used to his new surroundings and I'm sure he'll be fine.

Hey - do rainbows by any chance like to nibble on algae? I've been observing and he likes to skim the wall as if to eat algae off of it. I know when he is full, he still "attacks" his food, but then spits it out. He has done this whenever I put too much food in the tank.
