Found my prized male guppy tonight, dead.
Not the usual way, but with it's fins sticking out and body curved.. I think that is fish shock when it's being attacked..

I think my german blue rams may be preparing to breed, usually they tolerate the guppys.
Still sucks though.. This was my 'selective bred' male, part psychadelic guppy, part unknown.
I'll try to post a pic of 'Samurai'.

This pic from the 'ole 29 gal now gone..

About 6 years ago I had a ram that killed all my guppies.I ended up hating that fish, mainly because guppies are my favorite fish. Now for the first time in my life I don't have guppies, but I have 2 blue rams!!! I am sorry for the loss of your guppy. That was a very beautiful fish!!!

DaFishMan,

That sucks ]:| !

I just got a pair of German Rams (I love them) and I am wondering how aggressive they might become.

Could you be so kind and describe the tank (size{29G?}, mates) in which this murder occurred?

Hey Guppy_man,
Thanks for the compliment on Samurai, I have my fingers crossed for some nice fry..

Ingo,
They ARE less aggresive then Kribs. Mostly fight for display or warning, not to kill a fish. This was one of those exceptions. (darnit) Spawning Rams can have some attitude. Overall they're a joy to keep. Very interesting behaviour and beautiful colors

Not a 29 gal, that was the tank is was in at time of the photo.. I have a 40 gal breeder tank 36Lx18Wx15H. Very understocked.. 4 German Blue Rams, 1 BN pleco, some guppys and platys, 4 or 5 amano shrimp, 10 mts snails.
Acclimating 8 otocinclus catfish right now

So wait, are rams and guppies compatiable?
I have 1 ram (soon to be 2) with neon tetras and I'm planning on adding guppies. The ram chases the tetras sometimes but he can't catch them, let alone kill them.

Rams are not compatible with a lot of fish, primarily because they have a real streak of territorial aggression in there. Some keepers are lucky , others not so. I think if you want to be sure to avoid problems - keep them with bigger or heavily armoured fish. I think rams should basically be treated with a level of respect that you might normally reserve for some of the small to middle sized cichlids. Some individuals can be just as moody.
