You could also try some gold barbs. Bright orange, get 3-4 inches and can easily be seen from a couch across the room. Mine are definitely the centerpiece fish in my tank even though I never intended for them to be. Just a suggestion Good luck with whatever you choose!

I personally like the idea of the angelfish. It would go with the theme you have going, and they do get quite big... easily seen from another room, let alone the couch! Try to find a medium sized one as a compromise and explain to her it will grow! Tell her if you get one too big it might make snacks out of your cards and shrimp. *chants* Angel, Angel, Angel... LOL! Of course to stick with the theme, those zebra danios will just simply have to go!

I feel sooo sorry 4 you just tell your mum that it is your tank & that your the profesionall (in false calm voice) & just be paitient with her & if she cant see it from the couch then just move the couch :%) its really sad when a good tank goes to waste if your mum is still all huffy puffy ( ]:|) move it or sell it just dont give in.If she wins there are going to be ALOT of fish & people suffering *gets out wooden spoon just incase*.so whatever you do dont give up .

oh yheh, show her some pictures of fish that could go in there & that you like maybe that way you can come to a compromise.

im no expert on stocking but...
2-4 Dwarf Neon Rainbows (can be seen from couch)
6-10 panda cories (active)
2 Dwarf gourmais(can be seen at the top of the tank)
2 german/bolivian rams
& some school of active colourful tetras

dunno if that will work but keep fighting

Good luck,
Anthony
