you bought 30 fish at once......

please tell me those fish aren't in a 5 gallon tank and that you bothered to cycle it to handle that much load beforehand. Going by informtion on other sites about these fish, they reach about 3" as adults and are active, so they should really not be kept in anything smaller than a 20 gallon long tank.

EDIT:

nope. 10 in the 2.5 and 20 new ones in the 5 G.sry for the mix^. which is still better than waht they were living like at the lfs. i wana give these guys a second chase to live, or at least longer, and not as food.

You're joking right?

30 roises
yup thats 2 feedings of my piranhas

i used to breed them but couldnt keep up with the demand my piranhas keep
but 30 is a good start to breed them
they breed jsut like carp
a raise in temp lots of vegitible n live foods n over crowding will start spawning behaviour

r u breeding them t oraise ur own feeders or to jsut have them?

IMO rosey reds should not be kept in tanks smaller than 20 gallons in general, that would do for a group of about 6 of them, with room for a few tank mates. For 30 of them, as a permanent home, you're looking at a very large tank.... close to 100 gallons.

A 30 gallon tank is still too small for that many fish that will eventually reach 3 inches if they haven't already. Just because a fish is a "feeder" does not make it ok to mistreat it.

either take em back to the shop or drop em in a piranha tank. whichever is more humane than what they are in right now.

umm.nope to the joking Q.

You have those fish crammed so tightly into those tanks that they will barely have room to swim. If the tanks were not cycled, you are going to have one wicked ammonia spike in the next few days which may very well wipe ALL of them out. Take them back to the store. A quick death by feeding is much more humane than killing them by ammonia poisoning. If the ammonia doesn't kill them, lack of oxygen will. the surface area of a tank that small is simply not enough to sustain that many fish.

As far as breeding goes, please learn to take care of fish properly before you attempt to raise any new ones. I have seen you around this site long enough to believe that you should have more knowledge about humane fish husbandry practices. Treating any fish like that, feeder or not, is appalling. If you find it impossible to keep fish without treating them cruelly, perhaps you would be better off with a new hobby that doesn't involve the care of living creatures.

Before you get your hackles up looking for a fight, I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just horrified that someone would treat their fish like that.

First of all, we don't stock rosie feeders. Only goldfish, guppies, and shrimp.

Second, our goldfish feeder tank is 80 gallons, which is much larger than most other stores. We put about 200 goldfish in it, and they sell very quickly. We very rarely run out before our next shipment, but I'm saying that when we do, people get angry.

If we ordered more fish, we would not be able to sell them all in one week.

CoryAddict, perhaps your store should purchase more rosies or house them in a larger tank to purchase more?

Dude, you should seriously bring them back.

A quick death death by being eaten by another fish is much better than slowly dying and suffering in their own waste, which is what they will be doing in your tanks with that many fish.

And I hope you didn't buy all the rosie feeders the store had. People need them to feed to fish that won't eat anything else, such as leaffish and pikes. As an employee at a fish store, I can tell you that many customers get angry when they go there to buy feeders and there aren't any left.

Didn't you say that you were keeping them in a five gallon tank? If so, I really hope you don't have 30 of them...
