The fish that i saw and liked at my local LFS today were: Pearl and Moonlight Gouramis, Bolivian Rams, Keyhole Cichlids, Kribs, Rummy Nose Tetras, Black Neon Tetras, Black Phantom Tetras and Tiger Barbs. What would be a good mix/number for my 29 gallon? Thanks.

It's not a problem to put 1 Ram, 1 Keyhole and 1 Krib together? I also will probably go with some Cories for the bottom. Anyone else have any suggestions?

kribs can sometimes be nasty..so i'd drop the krib and keep the ram and keyhole. otherwise dj's list sounds good

I wouldnt get a Krib- it will likely kill any other bottom fish you put in! Very nasty buggers, deserve to be with other African fish. Mixing african cichlids with south american ones will be a bloodbath. Dont try it.
Heres a couple options:
1 Pearl Gourami or Moonlight Gourami
1 Bolivian Ram
1 Keyhole Cichlid
6 Black Neons
OR
2 Bolivian Rams or 2 keyholes
6 Rummynose Tetras
6 Black Neon Tetras
OR
12 Tiger Barbs
1 Krib (be wary though)
OR
12 Black Phantom tetra
1 Krib
OR
4 Keyhole Cichlids

I say:

2 bolivs
6 rummies
6 black neons
1 bristlenose or rubbernose

and you might even be able to get away with the gourami in there to. The reason I would get 2 rams is they do better in pairs and also they seem to interact with eachother more then other fish.

I would also suggest keeping 2 rams. One ram is nice to look at, but boring. Two rams, especially if they pair up, will provide hours of entertainment. Even if they don't pair up there will be some interaction between them, which is still better than one bored ram, in my opinion.

true, but you would have to revise the list to incorporate them, and then you'd have to drop other fish (ie. cories, bn) If he/she likes cories better, then there isn't much room for loaches.

I would sat drop a school of tetras and add a couple of gouramis since pearls like to be in small groups.
