Small tank-safe rock & a rubber band.

If you don't have a river pebble (small rounded jobby) then improv with something that does sink. (eg empty film canister filled with water)

You can buy what is called a veggie click that you can attach the cucumber to that also has a suction cup on it that allows it to be stuck to the inside of the glass and placed anywhere in the tank you like.

Yep the easiest way is find something that you can put into your tank that you can attack the cucumber too. You can use string or a rubber band to attach it too the thing your going to use. YOu can use rocks, bogwood, pots, aquarium caves. if this is too much of a hassle for you. you may want to invest in one of those veggie clips. So you can just clip the cucumber right on.

All I ever use is a river stone and a rubber band. It works well and very simple to set up and use.

I've never tried it with a cucumber, but when feeding a zucchini, I will take at blanch it in boiling water for just a short time and then it will sink right to the bottom without any kind of weight.

Also one main reason I hold it down is that my Clown Loaches would pick it up and, it could go mouldy in the tank and cause problems. If I do not fix a pear core they will carry it off.

When I feed cucumber or courgette (zucchini) I poke a plant weight through the bottom of the slice. The slice sinks to the bottom and sits upright. The loaches munch the middle out then treat the rind as a hoop to swim through

I do as whetu states. I use the flat plant weights. They work very well.

I have found the blanching (one min in boiling water) method to work too, but, this method will cause it to rot quicker too, and un-eaten part. It will start to fungus in about a day or two this way. Raw, it takes several days to fungus.

I'm with Acid and Fetu. The weights come for free with plants, and most LFS that carry plants will give you a couple for free.

It works very well and is very simple.

I did this just last night.

I just put a fishing weight in the middle of it and it worked out fine.
