I'm having a rather annoying snail problem in my tank. I believe that the snails that are in my tank are pond snails and I want to get rid of them. I heard that clown loaches eat snails, but I do not know if I can place them into my tank. I have a 20 gal with three Sword Tails, six Black Phantom Tetras, two ottos, and some plants.

You could go with a small species of loach who eat snails, you could try the good ol' fashion method of putting a piece of lettuce in the tank overnight and the next morning discarding it (should be covered in snails) and do that a few nights until they are gone). As far as the penny thing goes... the pennies have to be before a certain year to do any good but I can't remember which year... Good luck!~~~~~~~~

Copper kills snails but newer pennies are mostly zinc, I think. You need pre 1980 something pennies. Might be easier to just dose the tank with coppersafe or something like it.

The tank is too small for clown loaches.

I would prefer the lettuce method to be on the safe side. You will have to keep this up for a while as there will be snail eggs that will hatch later.

I also would remove by hand as many as you could also.
