Hello,

I have some "extra" cash that i saved up for a rainy day...and well iam not sure when the next rainy day is, so i am deciding to use the money probably next weeekend. So i need some advice on what to buy to better my tank. Now...this is a 10 gallon tank...fully cycled with 3 pristella tetras...who are doing incredibly fantastic!...2 corys...one gold barb who is also wonderful along with two cherry barbs who are the best of friends! Everything seems to be doing fine. My water is clear..although a little smelly and all my levels are prettymuch to perfection. Now i know that you guys are going to yell at me but to tell the truth i have never purchased any tests kits with the acception of an ammonia alert. Althought i have never bought a test kit i really have never found a need for one, because every time i go to my lfs i get my water tested for free...so its not that a big of a problem...and i go once a week so i dont think i need one...but anyways.

Do u guys have any ideas on what to buy for my tank, i was thinking about some live plants. Now i have only one and it is growing like crazy! But my thoughts were to buy about 3 more and put the along the outskirts of my tank so it gives my tank kind of like a jungle theme. Give me some of your feed back.

P.S. I was planning on adding 2 more pristella tetras and maybe 2 more corys.( would this be overstockng? ) if so what should i add?. And if i were to add these fish i have listed just above that would be the end of my fish stocking in my eyes....and about me spending my money i have about 35$....FYI...

TIA

Sorry for the long post.

Yeah, load it with plants. Put big ones in the back, tappered down to the front. Its your tank but I would put a lot more plants in there. Fish love hidding places. You could put a few rocks and/or roots/wood in there. Dont worry about your fish hidding and you not being able to see them because you will see them. Theres a good chance they will be happier too. What ever you do have fun.

you should bump up the cories as they are scooling fish to 6 cories.... they will be more active and much happier!

I think that you should add three tetras, two or three cories (the same species as the ones you already have), and remove the gold barb. Tetras and cories really do need to be kept in groups of at least six, though you don't have a lot of space in that tank. I know that you like the gold barb, but they get too large for ten gallons, and need to be kept in groups as well. You just don't have the room for five or six three inch fish.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Instead of the Gold Barb, add more Corydoras & more Pristella.

I loooove planted tanks

But before you decide on plants, please check out the planted forum. Not all plants will grow well in your tank and there are lots of factors (especially lighting) that you need to consider before choosing plants.
