Hello all. I awoke this morning to find sumptin abit strange in my tank. On my Penguin 330 intake shaft, about 1.5" from the top of the water, there are a bunch of little round balls on it. There are about 20 white and 80 clearish balls, all about the size of a small BB. All in an area of about 1" wide by 2" tall on the front only(not glass side). My only guess would be someones eggs. Nothing on the fluval 404 filter in or out. 75 gal with 2 Angels, 5 clown loaches, 1 Royal plec, 1 L-264 plec, 1 albino gibby, 1 syno eupteruptus, and 8 red eye tetras. The 2 angels are kinda nippin at it. Does this sound like it could be dangerous?

You have eggs! Of who I couldn't begin to guess though...
Your angels eating them isn't a problem, unless you wanted to try and raise the eggs to frythen of course there is a problem...just a little extra protein in the angels diet...wish i could tell you who had the eggs in the night, possibly your angels, but I'm not totally sure...heidi

WOW. Well I just read about the angels and it said the lay on leaves or glass. Ill look over my amazons for more. Does not appear to be on any plants just the filter intake. Well we could rule out the clowns as none are larger than 3.5 inches. I never see my plecs around that at that high in the tank. So probably the angels or tetras. The tetras have not been on that side of the tank today. I thought angels were "good" parents, how do I try to save the eggs. I have a 15 with guppies and snails for my Bichirs and Clowns. But the guppies hardly worth keeping (too small for Bichirs food). SOOOO what next peeps, Leave em in there? , breeding net? , or move to the 15gal? Any help very appreciated. This is to cool, wait till my wife finds out. Weve had 1 of the angels for about a year. Just moved a 3rd out of the tank as it seemed the 2 may be pairing off(nippin at the 3rd).

At this point I think I would go and post something about saving the eggs in the breeders forum. Someone there should be able to help you there with saving them.

But, why wouldn't you want to bother with your guppies? I lovemine--Heidi

Sorry, they are feeder guppies for my Bichirs(2). The snails are pest snails I feed my Clown loaches.

owe I have no problem with the snails, want some of mine? (keeps finding pest snails, and flushing them or throwing them outside), I'm actually considering getting a tank and breeding some feeder guppiesone of the lfs here has some interesting/pretty ones, and are crazy enough to say that I can sit there and fish out the particular ones that I want, if I choose to be picky...but to each his own, and I know your other fishies have to eat also...Heidi

Congrats for the eggs!! I know it does say they lay eggs on leaves or rocks(slate) but mine has actually layed eggs on the filter intake. I took out the filter intake and seperated it in another tank with the same tank water. I was surprised abt this but they never did it again

If they just started to breeding, don't worry u don't have to w8 2-3weeks. Just w8 about 1 week and *poof* u got em again as they breed more they tend to breed less frequent.

Good Luck
