On my 25 G.

oh my God. I tell you I haven't sworn that much or that well in ages. it is 20 to 2 in the morning and i WOKE up cos I heard dripping.

i panicked got buckets, tooka deep breath and opened the lid(scarypics going through my head of the whole tank collapsing,) and realised the spray bar connection on my fluval 3 had come loose and was spraying water all over well me at that point - with the lid shut the water was spraying all over the lid and running down the back of my tank on to the stand and then eventually building up and pouring on to the Rat cage beneath(rats not chuffed with being woken up either).

everything is wet or was wet two boxes of tissues later everything pretty dry. am worried it will have ruined the stand. will have to see....i am so glad it hasn't sprung a leak.

phew.... good nihgt all now the dripping has stopped i ll get some sleep!

What a rude awakening! That's an adrenalin rush in the early hours... glad you could all get some sleep. Your stand should dry out. Is it wood? Is the wood sealed or raw? either way it should be okay.

Sound like fun in the early hrs of the morning.

If the stand is fully protected, painted/posished etc it should be ok. Check if there are any metal screws as these could rust and cause further problems.

Sounds a bit scary, but make sure that the stand is Ok & check all the screws & iron fittings. Hope the table was painted & the water didn't cause any problems.

I had a midnight drip before as well, from the spary bar as well, you have to make sure they are clean all the time or else, bam one hole shoots water clear out of the top

I am sooo happy for you that you found it. Like was said, I wasn't so lucky waking up either............

Glad its not the tank!!

Angel Eel

I forgot to add my tank was an 100 Gallon at the time, around 50 or 60 of it came out There was only 4 inches left......

lol the nightmares of leaks, i had a seal blow on my eheim 2224 filter and it emptied the 6 foot tank while i was in bed down to the last 4 inches, fortunately no fish was harmed.

Thank god for my carpet shampooer, after 3 hours of sucking water up my carpet was bone dry.anyone with a big tank needs one.

woke up sunday night from a dream i was at a waterfall
but when i sat up in bed the water fall was still running
40 gal tall had blown a seal and had a 3 inch leak spewing water for 2 feet
lucky thing i was still cycling new tank without fish
grabbed garden hose and sipgoned tank dry
ran wet/dry vac for 30 min to suck up water
is there any one who knows how to repair this kind of leak
i got the tank for free but bought new hob filter new lid and light and new submersible heater not to mention gravel and decorations for a future cichlid tank
i hate to lose the investment and do not have the budget to by a new tank for the equipment i alrady have

oh Small Fry that is rough.... I had the orginal nightmare in this post! - my stand wasn't damged but i guess you don't want to know that!

I think the best you can do is find some sealent from your LFS - a big tube I feel and reseal the whole or get a professional to fix it?

I was so relieved when my tank just had a spray bar leek. so sorry about your tank

take care

GFG

Usually it is a glass specialist who fixes them.
You should be able to get the whole tank resealed (your best bet at the point) for around 100 dollars.
That is the price that was qouted to me in Canadian Dollars
to have my 90g resealed. May be slightly less for a smaller tank.

phone round your local fish stores and see who they get to fix their tanks and how much it costs. The guy I used to go to built his own tanks and sold them he was happy to reseal others tanks as well.

You won't be able to fill it up for a while I tihnk it might be 6 weeks? till its "cured"

Do you have any one else nearby who keeps fish and might know some one who fixes tanks?

GFG
