hi everyone!

My 46g has been set up for 5months, it use to have 7 mbuna cichlids in it but i got tired of them, (not enough options on fish) so nows its empty except for a small pleco. it is well planted/decorated.

so this is the list i was thinking of for fish:

2 german rams, 1male 1 female
2 angles, 1 male 1 female

And other colourful fish (no livebearers or tetras, ive done them already)

so that is where you come in... what else can i put in my 46g?

Hi there,

It appears more like your getting 'pair-a-litis'.
If so, I'd leave the rams and angels in there and I'll bet you end up with some fry

The Amazon Nut...

It really depends on the pH in this situation. If the water is hard and alkaline(you said it used to house mbuna's?), then Rams are not the way to go. They are sensitive to water chemistry and don't fair well in higher pH and hardness levels. The same goes for the angelfish, though they may be hardier.

If the pH is arounf 7.6-7.8 then I'd say you could TRY the Blue Rams, but I would stick to Bolivian Rams as they do better in higheer pH than Blue's.

For stocking I suggest either...

2 Rams (1M 1F)
2 Angels (1M 1F)
Celebes Rainbowfish (maybe 6? I think they stay small)
6-8 Corydoras cats for the bottom
and leave the pleco depending on what kind he is..

Or, you could replace the Blue Rams with a pair of Kribs or Bolivian Rams.

It really depends on the water chemistry.

Another option is going with the following:
2 blue rams
10 neon tetras
6 black skirt tetras
6 cories
and maybe some 4-5 hatchet fish.

I would add:
6x Panda Cories and remove the pleco, if its a common pleco.
10x Black Phantom Tetras
1x African Butterfly Fish

Then you would have the tank of my dreams

Inky
