My 50 gallon community tank is now almost empty with the exception of a school of cories and a small pleco. I have decided possibly upon a trio of angels,(or should I splurge and make it a quartet?) but am at a loss of what else to occupy the remainder of the tank. I would like to avoid tetras if possible and would rather shoot towards something quite a bit larger with "character." I was personally thinking an african butterfly fish???? Open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Well there is a pretty good chance your angels will pair up. So be ready to remove any other angels if that occurs. If you don't like tetras, you can go the rainbow route.

These are boesemani rainbows: www.regenbogenfische.ch/Super_M_boesemani_mannchen.jpg

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

A trio of Angels would be really nice in a Planted tank.
What type of Corydoras do you have?.

Corydoras are the basic bronze and albino types....one small shoal of each that acts as one large one. Rainbows are a definite possibility, but I am also thinking of some of the oddballs of the aquarium such as elephantnoses, butterfy fish, etc.

a quartet of angels would be better then a trio, but if they
pair there is the chance of trouble. As for schoolers you
could always go with cyprinids, are pseudomugils(blue-eyed
rainbowfish)

Also what kind of pleco is this 'small' pleco.

Oddballs are best kept in species only tanks, as they often
have different requirements than most 'community fish' and
are often more sensitive. this is particularly true with elephant noses, I wouldn't keep them with angelfish that are potentially aggressive and boisterous.

The pleco is small for now as it is a common variety, but I have a standing agreement with the local fish store to trade larger pleocs for smaller ways and additional store credit, so they have a wider variety of pleco sizes for retail and I make additional money in order to purchase supplies. Thank you for the information about the oddballs as I personally was without a clue. Any other suggestions than rainbows? Thank you once again for the rapid replies.
