Hi Reun,

You said "well, im thinking either a pair of angels, or the dwarf chichlids,or the gouramis.
anyone know the ideal number of these fish to keep ina 29 gallon, the care and pair matching for them?"

K, heres a suggestion:
1 Angelfish (quite fine alone they are)
m/f Pair of Dwarf Cichlids
1 male dwarf gourami, or a m/f pair. Keep in mind there are many different color varieties of dwarf gouramis, and several different species. The Thick-Lipped gourami is a hardy, attractive fish, slightly larger than its cousin the dwarf, but much much more hardy. Remember to quarantine any gouramis prior to addition to tank and treat with a wide spectrum antiparasitic and an anti parasitic medicated food. Gouramis can be rife with worms.

That would give you a little of each, would occupy all 3 levels of your tall tank: gourami (top), Angel (middle), dwarf cichlids (bottom).
It would be a nicely stocked tank with color, attitude, personality, and fills in all the areas.

On the gouramis, I recently did some checking up one them to add a few to my 55 gallon... I chose Dwarf Neon Gouramis, very colorful fish and they seem to have a bit of a personality to each of them. http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/dwarf.xml

Also, on the Australian Rainbows, if i may suggest some Dwarf Neon Rainbows.. very pretty, good schooling fish, and they add some color. http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/praecoxrainbow.xml

ok, through talking with people i have narrowed my choices down a bit.

if anyone can comment on the fish listed, i would be gratefull, there isnt alot of info on them in the fish profiles.

Angel Fish: i have pretty much narrowed these out as everyone says a couple will be too agressive towards the other fish, but i have heard other people that say no problem...not too sure.

Dwarf cacatoo chichlids: definatly wanna look into these, they are pretty and seem fun too watch while still being hardy. anyone know how many need to be in a tank (male and female??)

Gourami: what i will most likely go with, everyone has suggested these, i just dont know anything about them so i am a bit hesitant.

Australian Rainbows: someone suggested family Pseudomugils, i know nothing about them, and searches on google have been less than helpfull.

anyone know anything about these? im looking for ones that will be entertaining yet peacefull so my corys have nothing to worry about....

also, what would be the ideal number of any of the fish listed for a 29 gallon that is heavily planted with both artificial and real plants? plenty of caves and places to hide, yet lots of swimming room.

im looking for 1-3 fish, and those are what i have narrowed down. whats not too messy and fairly easy to care for? im still new, so i need something that isnt too fragile. i really need something that wont nip at the corys till they bleed like my 8 barbs....

please help me!

A pair of Angels is suitable for a tall tank.
