I have an empty 38 gallon(still waiting for a stand), and i am not sure what to stock it with.
I plan to plant it pretty heavily. The dimensions are 36" long, 20" tall, and 12" deep.

I was thinking of some of the following possibilities:

-A school of harlequin rasboras (if so how many would you suggest?)
-A school of some tetra (any suggestions?)
-Set up a breeding tank for either platys or blue rams

Any other ideas are welcome!

Thanks!

I believe a breeding tank would be the way to go. Check out these rams http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=2520 If not rams or platys, maybe some apistos. What kind of algae eater(s) will you have in the tank?

10 Harlequin (though Lambchop are much nicer) Rasbora

Maybe:

A pair of Apistos
8 Harlies
8 Lemon or cardinal tetras
6-8 cories

and maybe a ram pair?

I'm setting up a planted 38g soon (whenever I get all my equipment) and plan to have 12 small rainbows (or 2 schools of 8), 8-10 Habrosus cories, pair of Rams, pair of Apistos (or possibly just Apistos), and some Pitbull plecs (like big Otos). I'm thinking about some type of centerpiece fish, but haven't decided that yet.

I like Katie's suggestion as well. Originally (before I changed my mind 400 times), I wanted that stocking exactly (harlies, lemons, rams and cories).

I was interested in a pair of apistos, but in the last like two years i have been at my LFS they haven't had any.

How does this look:

-I would have maybe 2-3 ottos.
-See if i can find a pair of apistos(if there aren't any available i may just go with a pair of either Blue or Bolivian rams)
-12 Harlequin

Thanks!

Actually i did some research on "Lambchop Rasboras," and i think i prefer the look of these fish over the Harlequin. The Lambchop are somewhat smaller, which i also like.

So substitute about 12 lambchop (Trigonostigma espei) for the 12 harlequin.
