Would this be a good tank setup for a ten gallon?

3 harlequin rasboras
1 guppy
1 male betta
1 bumble bee goby

Sometimes male Bettas will attack guppies...since they have long flowing tails, like them. I have never kept the two together, so I am not sure about that.

Harlies like to school. So getting 5 or 6 would be better. With 6 harlies and a male betta I think you would be stocked. 10g aren't that big, so its better to keep the fish load light, so you don't have a tank crash.

Not sure about the goby...I've heard they are brackish and also heard they can be FW. I wouldn't put it in there with the other fish though. I think they are better in a species only tank.

yes, but what girl meant was just be aware that some bettas will be overall aggressive to guppies, but than again some betta males are not as aggressive and they will get along.

i am also not so sure about the gobie, as i do think they would like to have salt in their tank, and sand for a brackish set-up.

Well this is what I have now:

1 betta
2 platies
2 harlequin rasboras
1 guppy

how about I trade in the 2 platies and the harlequin rasboras for two otos? Then I will have

1 betta
1 guppy
2 oto fish

The guppies life will totally depend on the Betta if he is of the aggresive nature I would say less than than one day.

In my Betta Tank I have a mix of 1 M betta, Ottos, Khulies, and Cardinal tetras. All these details are in My Profile and in Photo Bucket.

I am also led to believe that if the Betta is a Red he can/could be aggressive, also several varieties of Bettas can be very agressive.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

German blue rams can be a little on the aggressive side, especially in a small tank. I really think it is a BAD idea to mix bettas and guppies. If the guppy is too small, its food, if its big and pretty, its going to be attacked. My bettas were a little on the nippy side. I think you should keep the plattys. And do this:

1x Betta
3x Plattys
2x Ottos

Plattys are a little bigger then guppies so you wouldnt have to worry about them being eaten, and they don't have the long fins, so you wouldn't have to worry about them being nipped at

with bettas their are alot of supersition about different types being more or less aggressive, i really think it doesn't matter, but just from my past, yellows and cts are abit more aggressive, but that may just be the ones i have kept.

again Betta research is good and all, but trying is a good way to find, out. sounds like u have done that and it is working out, but again this does not mean that it will always be 100% like this all of the times that u may atempt to do this.

a bolivian ram would be a better choice than a blue ram. in such a small tank, a common fluctuation in water parameters would kill off a blue ram, but not a bolivian. i think all 3 choices would be fine, although if you do happen to get a ram (bolivivian preferably), their may be some level of aggression (depending on individual temperment)

Since you have already said that your betta and guppies are doing fine together, the stocking of your 10 gallon is fine. All of your fish will have the space they need.

Well I moved everything around, and adding some fake plants, so it looks really good and everyone seems happy. The only thing is, the surface kind of looks bare, and I was thinking of adding maybe two neon tetras or two cherry barbs. But I don't want to overstock the tank, and everyone looks like they have sufficient space, and I worry that if I add two fish it will look crowded. . .or it could look awesome. What do you guys think?

No neon tetras. They do best in large groups...which I wouldn't add to your tank. Mine stay mid-bottom anyways.

Cherry barbs may be ok..I don't know if they are top fish though.

did u try a live plant, like a lillie or otehr floating plant, as they are benifical to the tank, and will help fill the top with something, but no other fish.

cherry barbs would rip apart your bettas fins. anyway, youre fully stocked (if not overstocked), and i wouldnt add any more fish, unless you want another guppy, but even thats pushing it.

I agree, you're stocked and shouldn't add any more fish.

Also, it's great that your fish get along. BUT, just because someone suggests that it may turn out different doesn't mean it's out of the question. Fish are just as individual as humans, so they regularly deviate from the accepted label. I've had a betta swim around just fine in a tankful of guppies (newbie at the petshop screw up), but i've also had a betta in the next tank over bust his butt to try and get to them so he could tear them apart. Good thing you have a mellow one.
