I have a moderately planted(5 swords, 3 pygmy swords, a couple apogeneton and 3 dwarf lillies.) 55 gallon with the following currently in the tank:

1 platy

1 angelfish, small

5 bloodfins (six as soon as I replace the one that died this morning)

6 aeneus corydoras

1 false SAE, false flying fox, or whatever they're called

I was thinking a school of emperors or pristella, a trio of cockatoo's or a pair of rams, and a BN or other small loridaridae.

Any suggestions?

What you have listed sounds good to me. I would choose the Rams, and have a large school of the emperors. Also you could get some Congo tetras or Sepra.

Add some Rams & a school of Tetra's. Both Pristella & Emperor Tetra are nice.

A good size school of emperor tetras or black tetras would be nice, and I would up the school of corries to 10, trust me the more the merrier with corries and in the long run you'll thank me Otherwise it sounds pretty good heidi

With the addition of a couple more cories, they have become so much more active. Before I seldom saw them, but now they are everywhere. Yup, more is definitely better.

I went to the lfs today, and got another bloodfin to replace the one that died. They said my water was fine, and my pH was about 6.7. Funny, my test kit reads 7.5-8.

I agree with houston on the black or emperor tetras. They would look nice. You could also try a school of lemon or diamond tetras. Both look very nice.

A 55 gallon is not really big enough for 10 Emperor Tetras, eventually they'd just tear each other up. It would be best maybe just get a pair or trio of them.

Ok, before getting any fish, I have a problem. The new bloodfins look healthy, but one died a day after we got them, and another just died this morning.(the next day) The lfs tested our water and said everything was fine and our nitrates were unusually low. Can you people think of anything that is causing the bloodfins to die?

Also, the replacement one is crazy. It chases all the other bloodfins and shoves them against the glass and run alongside them. It's also about half the size of the others,
