glue them all together to make a 30 gallon tank, LOL! just jk

I reckon go for an all one breed of fish,
for designs? try make like a lion king sortta thing with a rock or log sticking out over the rest of the things in the tank.
What do you think about clown fish and the anenomes?

I did it in my 6 gallon looks pretty kool. but the bigger it'd look better.

I'm under the impression clown fish need more than 10 gallons... I've never done marine fish, this is just what I've heard. Seahorses sound intriguing, though, but I don't know if I should try that if I've never taken a stab at marine.

And I'd rather not do more planted tanks...they're so very expensive to take care of :%)One of these 10g tanks used to be a betta breeding tank, but I've since given up on breeding after many frusterating failures.

i've never kept saltwater tanks but i've heard you can keep ONE clownfish in a ten gallon...and nothing else. but being that it's only a ten gallon, it'd be VERY difficult to keep and maintain.

Even a pair of brichardis will breed in a 10 - they've done it for me (of course, they're doing even better in the 20, but you have 10s)

Dwarf puffers in a nice planted tank would be cool.

Perhaps something unusual in the other one could be like a South American leaf fish or African butterfly... (one of each even?)

Or small grouamis like sparkling grouamis. I want to do that with one of my 10s.

i have a few spare tanks also. the after math of upgrading to bigger tanks.

i used a 10 gallon to grow black worms. i put a nice 4 inch gavel and stuck it under my aquariums. and after prunning my tanks i just chop up and let some of the excess plants decay to feed the worms. when i need worms i swish the gravel around and all the worms are in the water, just wait till the gravel drops to the bottom and use a net to get the worms.

the second 10g tank is a hospital tank just a heater and spong filter that i put copper safe in when i get new fish. or meds if i have a sick fish.

any other tank can be used for breeding, growout for plants, or a refregium filter tank.

Put a couple of South American Leaffish in one of them, find a school of rare corys and put that in the second, and for the third one, why not devote it to native fish in your area? Surely you must have some that can live in a 10 gallon.

Three spare ten gallons laying around here... four eventually, even. I just wish I had four larger tanks sitting around...

Regardless. One of them, I'd like to make into a mini-brackish aquarium for two knight gobies.

Any other ideas for the others? I already have a hospital tank, so that's non-applicable

I'm tired of the typical communities, and I have enough planted tanks. So, what're your thoughts?

:%) So many possibilities! Nano-reefs seem waaaay too much money, and my parents and I are all horrific penny-pinchers. I could make one tank for my african butterflies that I have in a larger tank-- they're in a "display" tank downstairs and my parents find them creepy I've never seen a leaf fish for sale, though they look really cool.

I already have a so-called "freshwater" knight goby that I've been wanting to put in a brackish tank, for his own sake. So that's another tank.

Brichardis (fairy cichlid?) sound nice, too. I loooove cichlids.

Other things I'm considering: I have a ctenopoma acusitoire in a 55 g right now, but when he gets bigger, he's gonna eat up my silvertip tetras. I STRONGLY doubt he's small enough for a 10g-- I'm right in assuming this, right? Even if he was the only fish? Seeing as he'll get 6-8 inches...

Also...native fish sound like fun, but I don't know of any tiny, interesting ones from Pennsylvania.

So, one tank, I'll have partly filled for my african butterflies (easier to feed them crickets that way, and easier to see their prettiness).

The other will be a tiny brackish tank for my poor knight goby.

So, just one more... I already have a hospital tank, I don't need another.

Don't like cories much, I find them boring (don't hate me, cory lovers!).

Hey everyone!
Where in PA are you from? My fiance is a parks and rec. major in college and he knows a lot about that kind of stuff! I can ask him for you if you like the idea of fish from PA!

Sam

If I'm not mistaken there are some darters native to PA, and male darters are just about the most colorful freshwater fish in the world.

OMG!! i am a total darter freak i love them, they are very hard to catch, but if u break out some snorkling gear and a large fine net u could swim with ur arms in a "C" shape and when u have cornered them or chase them to a drop off just sweep ur net in front and keep it there u could even make a fine mesh barrier net, chase a good sized shoal in to shore and bring the net around to close off exits then take a smaller net and a large fish net, and run around like a crazy person and scoop them into the large nex, when u have colloect about 12 put them in a a 10 gallon u should have on the shore, and excamin them for the healthy, its best to leave most of the best looking ones in the wild so they can breed off those, but keep the ones u LOVE and if u get 1 male and maybe 1 or 2 females of the same species u could breed them if u do ur reaserch good, but be cautioned about getting 2 males i learned the hard way, the bigger male will push the smaller weaker male into the shadows, it will eventually starve to death so if u keep 2 spares, u could get more than 3, and put the smaller males u see being pushed, they can form a batchler school, oh yess alot of the dsarter species shoal or school, it is quite a sight
