I have a small group(4) of feeder guppies and 2 tetras in a 10 gallon tank .. would I be able to put my male betta in with them or would that cause problems? I already had a goldfish eat a bunch of my guppies I don't want anymore to die!!

Feeder guppies would probably be alright, as they're pretty bland coloured and not very flashy.

Not the BEST idea, but i think in a pinch it would work. The bettas will go after fancy guppies as they're flashy and brighly coloured.

It really depends on the personality of the betta... I have kept bettas successfully with platy fry, endler livebearers, cories etc. Some bettas can stay in a community tank but others are just too aggressive. You could try him and keep a close watch, taking him out if you have to.

I've kept male bettas with both male and female guppies and the big difference is personality.

Liberty was the ONLY male of my then... uh... ten? male bettas that I would have put in the male guppy tank. The others would have ripped the guppy boys to shreds. I've got at least one male betta that would rip ANY fish to shreds given half a chance.

Currently all my boys are kept in their own tanks. Feather, who lived with the female guppies, is in solitary confinement at the moment, as I decided to breed my female guppies and they're dropping fry (and I'd like to keep a few).

If you have an aggressive betta, it likely won't work. However, a more placid type (and there's plenty of them out there), would be fine.

Also, if you've got a mixed sex group of guppies, you'll be having fry soon, so you'll have to take that into some consideration. If you put a betta in there, he's likely to enjoy a live-food snack monthly!

In my experience, bettas and guppies get a long until the females begin to drop fry, then the bettas develope a taste for fresh meat. Mine have gone after adult guppies after the females began to drop fry.

Don't add a Betta & Tetra's like to stay in a school of at least 6, but your tank is too small for them.

Thanks for your input everyone. I put Sawyer in with the others and kept watch ..he did go after the guppies after a while! So he was removed and put back in his own tank! There were no injuries! Thank Goodness!!
