oh dear it is such a pain when you do a tank and you can't get Everything done at once. i have got both plants and fish from trips and in the process left plants out too long or left them inj tap water and what not. VERY annoying.

you won't be embarrassed as long i have to show my plants!

chill out and I hope the plants get their act together!

GFG

Pics comin soon all..

It's a little less then I expected..
Kept some plants in the bucket too long which weakened them, then smacked with p permanganate.... some plants literally melted in the tank. Causing some plant debris.
H Difformis, hornwort and cabomba had to be tossed.. Almost lost all the ambulia, trimmed almost right down to the substrate, hopin it'll recover. Pennywort looks really pale. Planting the last of the current plants, no effort on scaping right now.. Plant recovery mode. Cleaned up the last calcium marks off the front glass with a razor blade. Camera batteries charged.. Almost there. I'm gonna be embarrased here on FP ! Well, at least this tank is off to a start. BN pleco doing ok at least

Thurs 9pm

Found charger for camera batteries, pics coming tomorrow night. Unless there's enough juice to whip off a couple snaps tonight.

Snail-dipped the rest of my plants.. ADVICE, don't let your plants sit in buckets of tapwater for 5 days. Chlorine and Chloramines take their toll, and no nutrients. My pennywort and hygrophila difformis literally melted but saved some pieces. Getting them ALL in the tank tonight to start recovery.

Found the receipt for my young apistogramma agazzisi pair,
(bought July 10 at 1:39pm) 6 more days and it'll be a month and so far so good. The 10 gal they are in, is the next to be re-done.. That tank will be re-scaped and de-snailed..

Was walking by the almost empty 29 gal and caught a flash of movement from the corner of my eye.. Looked closer, an amano shrimp managed to hide in there.. Caught em, caught ANOTHER flash of movement..........

(here's the kicker)

I FOUND MY MISSING BRISTLENOSE PLECO !! WAHOOOOOO !
A little happy ending in my day for a change.

Peace,
DaFish

Hi GFG !

Thanks for the positive comments GFG, I appreciate that

"you are impressive knowing all the names and what not!"
Any plant I have, I want to know exactly what it is, this way, you can 'read up' on what it needs to do well.
I have a couple crypts and such still to i.d. My plant knowledge is mostly limited to the types I have owned.
Before or soon as I get a new plant I research it. This helps in many ways.

"i just point and the virtually mute fish shop guy picks up what i want." - what I recommend is if you see a plant you like, write the name down, take it home, and research it's requirements. Then you will know if it will work in your tank. WHY - If you have a low light or medium light tank with regular gravel, do you want to spend $15. to $30. on a high requirement plant that looks amazing for a month or so then will wither and die ?

I'll do my best for pics.. although it's not scaped yet and right now I'd just be embarrased LOL. It's more or less a holding tank until the plants recover from their recent tank swap and 3 days in a bucket (some still in bucket, going on 6 days now, not recommended) Still have to find the charger for camera too..
Once the plants 'pick up a bit' the tank gets scaped. Need a background too.

Update - Wed night before sleep I washed the diffuser then made new batch of CO2. This morn it's happily bubblin away

you inspired me to improve my plant situation. i have no idea what it is all called tho... you are impressive knowing all the names and what not! i just point and the virtually mute fish shop guy picks up what i want. mostly it looks like grass and i have normal pond weed and annubus(SP). the pleco digs it up what ever it is called

I have only one to say to you Dafishman hurry up and take some PHOTOS!

and get more sleep, 2 am honestly!!!

GFG
