Well I am currently dosing my tank for ich and I was crouching down at my tank looking at my clown loaches to see how they were doing and so I got up and *BAM* i hit my knee on the stand door. I ve done this before but not as hard as this time. It was a pretty hard hit too. My cories went wild as usual flickering all over the place and settled. But this time 2 of my danios went crazy! After they just hung around the bottom of the tank and breathing heavily and looked really scared. The stress from the med cant help that much either . All my other fish are fine now but the two danios must have been freightened good. I turned the lights off immediately and turned on the room lights. I put a bit of stress coat in too. I hope everything will be okay .

try leaving the lights out for the next day or so, everything should be fine, i'm forever hitting my knee, arm, or something on one of my stands I'm such a clutz, had to remind someone once that the fish tank wasn't for leaning ontake care, and good luck...heidi

Eric,

How is your knee?

I am sure that the danios will be ok and recover from the scare. They are hardy fish and the Ich medication (I assume anyway that you use a reduced dosage because of the clowns) will not influence them too much.

To you and Heidi – how do you hit the knee on a stand? Is it an open frame of some sort?

The odd bang to a tank isnt the end of the world , well not unless you break it!
Your fish will probably ok, but it does occasionally remind me that vinyl is probably a good idea. Especially when my friends 2 year old toddler is running around the house with his cannonball head.

Well my knee is fine.. not hurting at all and my danios are acting normal again but all the tank mates are breathing heavily maybe because of the med? And its a solid wood stand and not those steel ones with 4 legs. I am going to do what heidi said and leave the lights of all today except for when i do a water change later. And I dosed my first dose at half strength but I got Rid Ich + which is specially formulated with clowns and smaller fish in mind so I may try a full dose.

Notes that only one person asked about the knee along with the fish. I'm always bumping the glass with water change buckets or my elbow. I'm also wondering how you hit your knee on a stand without walking into it...
I'ved used rid ich+ at full dose with other loaches without problems so they should be alright if you keep it around half dose.

Well all the fish are fine ... I still have the lights off and havent fed them yet. I am going to do a water change later due to the meds. Will it be fine to turn the lights on for a bit?
