I decided to do the usual water change one day earler because of the recent deaths.

I decided to have a good look as the tank still had the funny death smell.

On a very close look burried beneath a lot of small Anubias attached to DW I saw a white mess. OH no not another death!!!!. No nothing like it it was a piece of pear core they had broken off about 2 weeks ago. I can tell you the smell was not actually pleasant. Naturally it broke up, by using a very small fine net I managed to get most of it as I moved my fingers through the Anubias.

After the water change I poured 50Lt all over the place where the pear was to dislodge any that I had missed.

I then treated the tank with Melafix and Pimafix as a precaution. Within five hrs some of the large hiding fish are out again.

..thats good you found it out...later it could maybe be a disaster....
I will do the same to take out everything out of the tank, because my water smells bad too.

I know human beings and fish can co-exist peacefully.

Keith,

Finding out why fish die is very satisfying. I hate it when all I have are speculations on what might have happened.

Glad to hear that your bad episode is coming to an end.

Nice job Keith. Sorry you did not find it earlier. At least the 3 lived long lives.
